He had insomnia, and depression throughout his life so like most people with mental illnesses he made some great fucking music. But he killed himself in 1974 at the age of 26. That, or he was so depressed one day that he thought maybe in he took a whole bottle of anti-depressants he would feel super for the next while, but it's most likely the former. He's actually a pretty talented guitarist. You won't find any 20 minute solos but he does use some pretty hard chords and he uses a lot of odd tunings. He only released three studio albums, but each one is a classic in it's own way. Five Leafs Left His First album. It didn't really sell well, and Drake was really pissed off because of this. I really like the strings on this album. This one contains the most instruments compared to his other work, as it fells like there's a lot more people playing, like a band or something. Just listen to it compared to the other ones. You'll see what I mean. Probably the most "poppy" one. There are only two instruments in the whole album: Nick Drakes guitar, and some piano overdubbed onto the title track. The album's only less then half and hour long. I've seen EPs longer than that, but that's not really a bad thing. It's a nice quick listen every time, and it feel be a lot fuller than an album that's 70 minutes long.
