i just lost all my music files in a major computing fuck up, and have my main cd's, but dont know where to go to get the rest back, what is the cheapest pay per month instead of per download program? one that lets me actually keep the tracks, not like rhapsody?
I can't see why any subscription-based service would let you keep your tracks after cancelling. What would be the reason to keep a current subscription?
whats the point of paying monthly and needing to buy to burn a fucking cd? i dont have an mp3 player...
Napster maybe?
You pay to listen in subscription services, not download forever. If that was how they worked, then someone could just get a one month subscription and get all the music they want for $20.
If you own the song cant you torrent them? I don't buy or download music so I don't really know.
i just want to be able to put songs onto cd's legally and have done free trials of fucking everything and nothing lets you unless you buy the individual songs along with paying the monthly fee, if i only listened at my computer that would be great but i hardly ever do, so i want mobile tracks that i can put onto cd's
This is why I buy CDs. Next time back it up or use a service that will let you re-download them. I think iTunes lets you download them again.

Never going to happen.

It's still technically illegal but if you can prove you own the song they'll never win a lawsuit should they try to sue
spotify.

Sorry. You can't use a subscription based service. Any pay per month system would have to be stupid to let you do that.
or perhaps grooveshark.
It's legal to torrent, for personal use. It's just Illegal to sell them or use them in commercial stuff.
ok whats the cheapest per song?

Yeah but when you torrent you are also seeding. Uploading something that isn't yours to other people is illegal.

this you can
its a-ok! so long as you own it and can prove it
If you got them from iTunes, you can redownload them for free.
If you own the songs, It's very much legal for you to download/torrent them.
Just like on those "FBI WARNING" they put on DVD's and VHS tapes, it says your allowed to make a backup, becuase if you lost your stuff that you already bought and had to buy it again that wouldn't be fair and the companies would hoard money. Too bad stupid people don't know that and buy it again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Zune do this at one point?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Zune do this at one point?
No they didn't. They DO let you keep a few songs every month permanently. You might be thinking of that.
I was never a fan of the Zune market place. I don't know there was something lacking.
I don't how well the Zune subscription is, but hay you could try that I think it is like $14.99 a month
you are looking for Rhapsody sir. My friend uses it and I think it's about $10 or $15 for unlimited songs, plus you can crack the program to export to iTunes.

It is like iTunes, you buy songs with Microsoft points, no subscription necessary.

Than be a dick and don't seed.
(Just telling OP the facts, don't actually believe that, and am not trying to sound like a dick)
