-snip- selling my pc for $750 this is what I have so far: [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/1yy7[/img_thumb] Any thoughts?
Looks good! Monitor?
I have a 1080p monitor.
There's a 5870 on Newegg for $190 worth the extra $15 in my opinion [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150476&cm_re=5870-_-14-150-476-_-Product[/url] [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] also it's XFX so even better

[editline]26th March 2011[/editline] I'd actually prefer to go nvidia this time, is there any good mid range GPUs for around the same price ~$180? [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] I'm actually getting a 5770 for cheap ($90!) so I'll just use that.
Is there a reason why you want to go nVidia, because that 5870 is a good deal.
Someone has emailed me about my PC so this is becoming more realistic! [editline]27th March 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=Kabutos;28818573]Is there a reason why you want to go nVidia, because that 5870 is a good deal.[/QUOTE] Just wondering if there's any for around the same price:performance, if ATI has a much better value I don't mind, I'd just prefer to go with nVidia this time, a lot of the games I play have support for Physx, plus my brother's getting rid of his 9800GT so I could use that as a physx slave. Doesn't really matter, though.
I don't think there's anything close nVidia can offer for $190 that matches the 5870
Someone just called to buy it - they're picking it up the 20th, this just became a reality :3 need a new build! [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] They're buying it for $750 I believe. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] FYI I don't care about shipping costs, I'm going to use the trial of ShopRunner to get 2 day shipping for free! :D [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] Updated OP, is that PSU any good, and what should I do with the rest of my budget - a better GPU obviously, or maybe not a budget motherboard (don't really care about that). I'm probably going to try and sell this as well, for $950 or so. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] jaehaed come save me and do something amazing with the money, thx
I would change the PSU to an XFX one, and try find an ASRock motherboard. The 5870 seems like a good deal, so go with that one if you don't mind a little more power consumption than newer cards.
I don't think the 5870 is a good deal anymore, at $219 for the cheapest one. (This is an old thread I bumped)
Ahh, didn't see. Get a 6870 instead, then. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] alternatively, go for a 6850.
mm the GTX 470 is looking nice at $200 [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133341[/url]
200? Get it.
do you care about HDD space [media]http://i.imgur.com/MmwHQ.png[/media] $742 w/ EMCKFKC38 Links: [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151192[/url] [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136865[/url] [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133341[/url] [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231394[/url] [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.634440[/url] [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.622006[/url] [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] finally some decent combos
Better PSU. [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013[/url] And ninja'd. Go with above build. :ninja:

[editline]13th April 2011[/editline] remember that shipping costs don't matter because I get free shipping now.
I understand, but I can't find a way to fit a 1TB in your budget with my build above Replace the 500GB WD with a 1TB F3 and it ends up being $19 overbudget If anything though I suggest you keep the PSU/Case combo
Yeah I'll probably get the HAF but ugh I'm thinking it'll be super ugly, Antec 100 is beautiful. I think I'll just go over budget a little, make my brother give me some money (he's retarded and freaked out that I was going to get an ATI card and offered to give me some money to get an nvidia card because "RADEONS SUCK" lol) [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] I'll end up getting some different RAM too, if I wanted 1333 I'd just use some I have already. Might do that anyways.
Good call with the RAM, but there's one thing that I've always wondered with unlocked processors I'm sure you'll be overclocking this thing, and with regular FSB adjustments RAM frequency mattered, but with multiplier overclocking would faster RAM make a difference?
IDK. Okay, I'm going to use DDR3 10666 I have laying around, you now have ~ $40 more to work with (since you dont have to buy RAM). Gogogo. I'll be replacing it with DDR3 1600 when I get payed by some people in the future. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] I think I'll try and get a cheap SSD. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] Where are those Hybrid SSD I keep hearing about? One of those would be nice.
do you already have a heatsink
Ah Heatsink, good call. 212+ then? [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] Jeeze the 212+ sure went up in price.
also hybrid SSDs are basically regular platter drives with a small SSD built into it - I think your only option is are Momentus XTs, not really worth it imo anyways I got two options $760, Hawk GTX 460 / 2500K (cheaper, new GPU, weaker stock but [url=http://www.guru3d.com/article/msi-geforce-gtx-460-hawk-review/20]massive overclock potential[/url]) [media]http://i.imgur.com/eRPpb.png[/media] $764, PNY GTX 470 / 2500K ($4 more expensive, performs better than 460 at stock obviously, dunno about overclockability) [media]http://i.imgur.com/DkZHe.png[/media] [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] yeah I know 212 went up in price actually try your local Best Buy; I got myself an A70 for $25 and from what I've heard I'm not the only one
I think what I'll do is use the stock HSF for a bit until I get some extra cash, get the 470, and maybe spend a little more on the case / psu because the antec 100 is calling my name [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] ugh IDK - lets just leave this alone a bit until around the 19th, newegg are bound to change the deals anyways.
alright what PSU will you go for though? A rig with a 470 draws ~420W under full GPU load
Is the 550W one in the OP really that bad? The one hundred isn't really needed but I don't like the HAF at all, I don't mind it though I guess, I'll probably end up getting it anyways, it would probably resell better, thne I could do this all over again with about $100 more :D. [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] oh god run on sentence
it's not bad, but I'd say you can get something better you can even get yourself this [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194089]550W Enermax[/url] for just $5 more and that outputs more on the 12V rail than the Coolermaster and is more efficient
