I am still bummed that Jade and Pey'J is nowhere to be found in the game, imagine Jak II: Renegade without Jak and Daxter being in it, or a Ratchet and Clank game without Ratchet and Clank, or Half-life 3 without Gordon Freeman and G-Man.

I miss the art style from the first game. I mostly remember a distinct presence of the color green. Sure, this more realistic approach is appealing but it feels disconnected from the original game. You could slap any other title onto it and hardly anyone would notice (until they play the game and some story connections appear).
ehh I think sometimes that games entirely disconnected from their prequels/sequels are better. Fury Road was amazing and had few connections to previous movies. Silent Hill 2 had basically nothing to do with Silent Hill 1.
It sounds pretty neat from what I've seen and heard so far, though that tends to stand for very little these days especially in the early stages of development. I never played the first BG&E so I don't have an attachment to the story, wasn't exactly the sort of game I was interested in at the time. Commanding space pirates however, that's something I can sink my teeth into.
