Couple wrongly accused of abuse ‘unlikely to see their child again’.
A couple whose baby was adopted after they were wrongly accused of abuse are unlikely to ever see the child again despite being cleared, their lawyer has said.
Three years ago, Karrissa Cox and Richard Carter, from Guildford, Surrey, took the then six-week-old infant to accident and emergency after noticing bleeding in the baby’s mouth following a feed.
Bruises and what were thought to be fractures were noticed by hospital staff and a few days later the couple were charged with child cruelty and the baby was taken into care.
However, the criminal case against the couple collapsed at Guildford Crown Court after new medical evidence showed there were no signs of abuse.
Mr Carter, a former soldier, and Ms Cox, both 25, now plan to try to win custody of their child back. “We took our child to the hospital seeking help and they stole our baby from us,” Ms Cox said.
However their lawyers believe it is unlikely the adoption – made legal by a Family Court earlier this year – will be overturned by a court as such rulings are usually final.
It's a shame, because of a hospital fuckup they'll either never see their kid again, or need to tear it away from the parents it's known for nearly 3 years. There's no winning for the biological parents.
Utterly disgusting and a terrible situation allround. :(

That's normally the case, but this isn't anywhere NEAR a normal situation. Not overturning the adoption would be the biggest travesty out of all this.

Think of the children.
No really, think of the child.
As far as it's concerned, the adopters are it's real parents now. It only knew it's biological parents for a little over a month, and it's been 3 years now.
It sucks really hard for the biological parents, but taking it away now would damage the child.
Hope the adoption parents and the biological parents can work it out somehow.
The kid has a family now. Don't take it away from him. It sucks but at this point it's better for the kid. Just sue someone for tons of money and try for a new child.

Bit further down in the article
The couple were allowed supervised contact with their child until about a year ago.
Ms Cox described the toddler as "bubbly and bright". "[The child] said mummy and daddy quite a lot and used to get upset when it was time for contact to finish," she said.
"[The child] wouldn’t want to be put back in the car and would cling on, hold on to me. We’d love to have our child back home with us where [the child] belongs."
It seems they already know who their parents are
Fuck the hospital and the court that allowed the adoption.
How can bullshit like this happen in the first place? Christ.

People make mistakes, simple as that.

The kid is just three years old though. And as the article says, the kid also seems to know who its real parents are. I don't think we should be so forgiving when the government essentially has fucked up the life for two families.

This is a pretty awful mistake, though. You don't just say "oops sorry we fucked up" and shrug at both families.

That's true but what do you do in a situation like that?
The real parents should sue the medical department imo.
This shit is horrible.

Honestly they're probably protected by laws encouraging the reporting of child abuse. If anyone is at fault here it's the prosecutors or who ever it was that was responsible for putting the child up for adoption before the criminal case against the parents was done. At most the kid should have been put of for foster care before it was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that the bruises were cause by abuse.
Wowee, thats bad on the part of the medical staff. In second year medicine we got taught in our blood lectures that if a kid comes in looking battered you don't jump on the 'Child Abuse Bandwagon,'
its more than likely its a bleeding disorder, especially at such a young age.
As a side note, we got told stories about how Dr's misdiagnose bleeding disorders and tell the parents that it will go away.

Doctors don't require some of the longest educations for nothing. They're professional. They should NOT be making mistakes like that.
Babies are vulnerable as fuck, it's quite common that they'd get hit with some sort of sickness messing up their skin at a young age.

There's no telling how much the revelation of adoption can damage the childs mental health in the future, which makes that a moot point.

well the docs should lose their licenses, for one.

thats not how babies work mate
like most animals, our children imprint on their parents relatively quickly. seeing as the kid was described as already associating their mom and dad with the words 'mummy' and 'daddy' means that it'd probably be totally fine to give the kid back to the REAL parents and then later in life the parents explain what happened.

Yes, but that does not fix the problem at hand.
Yes, but that does not fix the problem at hand.
Because it's absolutely too late to fix the problem now.
However, you can help make sure it won't happen again by taking away the license of the people who caused it to happen in the first place, and giving an adequate punishment for someone as important as a doctor to ruin a family out of sheer stupidity.
Honestly, just give the real parents the baby back, and give the other couple some money or something

No more so than if the kid found out he was adopted, which will happen eventually.
The kid will find out if they do not already know.
It will still cause problems down the line when the kid is older, they might end up hating on their adoptive parents for depriving them of a birth parent upbringing, who knows.
If the kid's already had contact with his birth parents then he should be reunited with them. Fuck the adoption ruling and fuck whoever made it, they have no right to take a child from it's parents when evidence of abuse has been disproven. I seriously hope the people responsible for this are pressured into returning the child.
This is just absolutely insane, give them their child back.

Found the psychopath
All jokes aside its so beyond the point to just forget your CHILD and "try for another". Its not a new car, it's a baby

Yeah guys it's THAT easy to get past a psychological trauma like this!
Just have another one!

Ah yes, instead lets traumatize the child. That's so much better. Genius.
Just ask the kid and let him decide.
Also yes, many parents who lose their first child due to death later choose to have another one. It's that "easy".
