I'm gonna be needing a new laptop, with a budget of around $1000, maybe a little higher.
I play games a lot, but I'm not really obsessed with having high graphics, I've always preferred performance over graphics (I play TF2 with lowest settings now even though I can get 60+ fps with max), other games that I'd prefer to work fine are mostly FPS games like Quake Live or Source games.
I've never had a laptop before so I don't know what brands to look at or what makes a good deal, so if any of you have suggestions, that would be awesome, thanks for your time.
Found this one on Newegg, is it decent? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220921
I'd say the one you found is quite decent.

For what you want anyway
ASUS is probably your best bet. That particular model has been engineered to maximize cooling too, if I recall correctly. It's a great laptop that will last you until probably your hard drive dies 3-4 years down the road
Update on budget, as long as it doesn't exceed $1600 it should be fine.
you could get a alienware one, such as AlienWare M71x it comes for about $1,499 does it matter how big it is are you going to be traveling with it cause it is about 17" and a bit heavier than others

There are many reasons, do a forum search on it.
One being how overpriced they are and it may look fancy but it overheats and dies easily (from what I've heard).

yea just go with the asus
If you play TF2 on low anyway, you can probably do fine with something much, much less expensive than that. I have a $600 HP DV7 laptop with an ati 5650 and it runs stuff like Just Cause 2 and Assassins Creed 2 on low at above 40 fps, TF2 on max at close to 60.

I want it to kind of be future-proof for a few years though, I don't only play TF2 either.
