Hello everyone, I'm slowly but surely getting back into strategy games again. My brain is finally ready. That being said, I'm not very versed in what goes down in the genre anymore. What I'm looking for is a turn-based strategy game based in the real world (a WW2 scenario would be ace!). Can't really wrap my head around games like Europa Universalis, yet. Civ5 is a good level of complexity for me :) Been playing some Castle Vox (on Steam for like 15 bucks, but you can get the demo here). It's rather cool, but not very deep. Suggestions so far: Victoria I and Hearts of Iron. Will take a look at them both :) So facepunch, do you know of any cool turn based strategy games with a WW2 scenario? Cheers!
Well, I'm going to recommend chess. I know it's not exactly what you wanted, but give it a try, it's a great strategy game.
I played both EU3, HOI3, and vicky 2, and out of those three, EU3 is definitely the easiest to learn, and I even played it first (you'd think that HOI3 will be easier to learn if you've played EU3 before, but trust me, it's still complicated as shit). I also recently bought the C&C first decade bundle, it's got some great games in it and I'm having great fun and nostalgia with RA2. Edit: oh nvm, C&C games don't really fit your description.
Like already mentioned get the Victoria or HoI series. I also recommend Strategic Command. I have other turn based games but they're set in the future. -Master of Orion 2 -Ascendancy -Galactic Civilizations I & II -Alpha Centauri
Victoria 2 Is great fun in my Opinion. As in it would be a top 10 of 2010. Granted the AI tends to buttfuck you. As the North German Confederation I had to go to war with France for Assac-Loraine, and Denmark just to have them. After I form the N.G.C I am attacked by France, THEN Russia, Austria, Sweden, The Papal states and Bavaria. I had to disarm for 5 years, two years left until I get cozy with the Russians, and Fuck Austria into the ground.
Already mentioned a bunch of times but.. Europe Universalis III. I love that game so much.
