I don't know if that's a bad or a good thing.
Yay. Hope the addition of an open world doesn't stop fluid movement whilst free running.
How I feel right now.
I see people complaining about it and how it could turn boring and stuff. Guys, a few years ago everyone was complaining about invisible walls and how some day every game would let us explore its world with no limit, now that it is possible, we want invisible walls back?
I hope you can still run through the game without ever using a gun. [sp]except for that sniping the truck's tire[/sp]
Non linear freerunning/parkour game? And it's actually Mirrors Edge 2? On next gen!? My poor heart.
I don't know if that's a bad or a good thing.
Good thing. The first game was ridiculously linear for a game that's biggest selling point is free running.
Good thing. The first game was ridiculously linear for a game that's biggest selling point is free running.
Also 4 hours long.
Good. I want new. If I wanted to play linear free-running I'd play the first ME. At the least this will probably still be linear- I just imagine you have to navigate the overworld to get to said mission- which actually sounds pretty rad.
Also 4 hours long.
more like 2
It's a very different Mirror's Edge experience
It's now a multiplayer-centric third person space marine shooter
Seems like the right direction to go for Mirror's Edge.
Sounds pretty cool, honestly one of the biggest problems with Mirror's Edge 1 was that it was so short, and there was a lot of lost potential in the game by it being relatively linear. Open-world will allow it to probably increase the game length by a couple of hours, make opportunities for exploring the city outside the story, allow for hard-to-get collectibles to be placed around the city and makes side quests that allow for alternative gameplay mechanics that a story-based game can't offer possible. IMO Mirror's Edge 2 will be to Mirror's Edge 1 what Portal 2 was to Portal 1; a game that builds on a flawed yet interesting experimental title, and perfects it by adding what the first game was missing in terms of content and polish.
so far so good
From that remark I think they realised what the first game lacked-driving vehicles
From that remark I think they realised what the first game lacked-driving vehicles
Unless the city is properly huge there's no point. I hope it is huge though.
Whenever I hear "Open World" these days I keep thinking of Grand Theft Auto. Sure, it's totally awesome when you get to roam all over the place but......it doesn't seem right for Mirror's Edge. I feel it should almost remain linear.
main character face looks... odd
main character face looks... odd
she asian you've never seen an asian before? racist fuck
main character face looks... odd
It's a prequel, she's younger
she asian you've never seen an asian before? racist fuck
lol, what? i'm refering to the angle the head is.
Oh shit? Open World? Fuck yeah. Although there are a lot of open world games at E3 it seems.
Seems like "open world" is going to be the new "cover and regenerating health" of this next generation, as every IP seems to be going this route now Not that is a bad thing, but it could be if its shoehorned. Just find it funny how MGS5, this game and a bunch of stuff revealed at E3 today are all open-world settings. I suppose it makes sense though, with more power means you can have bigger environments so you might as well get closer to the "our game is really a complex simulation of the real world" ideal.

watch as they disable the Runner Vision red-means-go mechanic and introduce a button that makes you automatically do all the parkour moves if you hold it down while running
It's a very different Mirror's Edge experience than the first game
I don't like the sound of that one bit.
Give her her bangs back, she looks really weird without them
If they make it open world, but with bases like from Far Cry 3, but you don't kill everyone there you just have to get in there, get intel or something, and the get out, then I would literally leak like a sieve.
