oh shit quake-con, can't wait for some announcements.
Man, Doom is 50% off already?
Return To Castle Wolfenstein is on sale as well, can't recommend it enough but just remember to patch it so it runs without issues on modern OS's and for widescreen support.

I don't understand this. The game sell 600 000 copies on Steam alone in the first 2 months at full price, that sounds great to me. Then during the summer sale they already had a 40% off and it went to 900 000. And now it is 50% off already ?
I hope they are building up the user base for something big, like a Resurrection Of Evil expansion pack or something, and they are not just desperate for money.

It's not good for a triple-A game
they're supposed to sell by the millions

Easily sold a million if console copies are counted.
Also XCOM 2 is still sub-million and I don't see it being considered a failure.

Likewise, Wolfenstein TNO is barely over a million on Steam.
I'm sure Bethesda had realistic expectations for DOOM.

IIRC Marty Stratton said one of his goals was to "get the game into as many people's hands as possible" or something along those lines, this may be a part of his strategy.

Probably because XCOM isn't an FPS unlike 6 out of the 10 currently most played games on Steam.
It's a much more niche genre.

I mean shit, when I can get both DOOM and a Steam controller in a bundle for $60 it's very, very tempting.
Also for reference DS3 has sold barely over a million according to current Steam Spy data, but official data shows that it shipped 3 million a month after its release (which of course doesn't count digital sales).

The shipping data doesn't mean much. Just because the stores are full with them, doesn't mean all of it actually sold.
