I'm looking to get a new MP3 player because my old iPod is kinda falling apart. I was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for a good one. Right now I'm leaning towards just another basic iPod, unless anyone here knows a better one? The only thing I want is I want for it to be 80GB (or more). Thanks in advance!
If you are looking for a stable device that has a higher amount of storage, then why not go with an ipod classic.
iPods are the tried and true classic method, but from a purely unbiased point, I own an iPod and a Zune and the Zune's audio quality is better tenfold.
Stick with iPod in my opinion man.
Plus the way I see it is you have 80 gigs of music / external hard drive / flash drive, lol.
I'd go with a Sansa Fuze. Sound quality is great and it runs Rockbox perfectly.
Edit: nvm... Saw you wanted 80GB+
Get an Ipod touch, it pretty much does everything and is very reliable.
Get a Nintendo DS, and a Flash Cart
You can't go wrong with another iPod.
Cowon D2+ for very good audio and drag and drop.
Cowon S9 for very good audio + screen and drag and drop.
Zune if you want some space and some pretty good audio quality.

I disagree.
Someone like myself who enjoys high audio fidelity, drag and drop audio management, a small budget and a penchant for non-standard codecs can go very wrong with an iPod.
Currently using a Sansa Fuze.
But, apple has the HDD based DAP market cornered. Although it is entirely possible to buy a high capacity Fuze and reap the benefits of it's easily expandable memory to get a player with a far superior audio quality at the expense of some storage space.

They are kinda big but you get a internet tablet and a mp3 player in one with a large hard drive.
Zune.
I know the storage is a little under your needs, but I would recommend a Zune HD 32gb (or 64gb when/if they come out).

Good for everything until you have to put that in your pocket.

Also what iPod you have? I've just fixed my old 4G "classic", new 30gb HDD and battery, will get the Fiio E1 to replace my plug that is too loose now...

Well it is smaller than you think. But still bigger than the average mp3 player but hey it included an intent table also.
ipod or zune
probably a zune because i know there's probably no shitty program like itunes and you can just copy/paste the music into a folder.
If it weren't for fucking itunes, ipod would definitely be the way to go. Only apple product i've bought and probably ever will.
I fucking hate itunes though.
How many gigs of music do you actually have? I know people who think "more is better" so they get 120gig iPods and have only 200 songs Odds are ( if not given ) that a small storage cap device would be cheaper.

Actually there is a program you have to use for Zune, but IMO it's much much better than iTunes (you can easily drag and drop through the program).
oh ok my bad!!!!!!!!!

You can do the same thing in iTunes.
Anyway, get whatever you like. If you want storage you can't go wrong with an iPod classic. Or Zune. They have the best software and interface out of pretty much any mp3 player that I've used.
There is nothing wrong with iTunes, apart from the fact that the optimizations is made so badly that even the monkey coding it outsourced the job to indian monkeys.
And nobody really needs 80+gb for music. Or do you really need over 41 days of non-stop music with always different tracks?

Some COOL people capture there music in lossless.
There's more than iPod and Zune.
I'm personally a big fan of Creative's Zen product line. I'd get the new one, it's cheap and has a great touch screen. It comes with quality earbuds too ( Creative EP-630's )
I think you should buy a 32 Gig Zune HD but after 5% tax its 304 and its not 80 gigs but how much music do you really need at 1 time. With the zune pass and wireless sync on you will never to to sync to your computer except for firmware updates.

But then would you want an iPod?
Still 80gb gives 133 hours of music, and if it's just music I think there is a lot more than plenty... 32gb ought to be enough for everybody. Funfact: f you pay 1$ for every song you use to fill it, you pay around 2000$
If there is movies / etc it's a whole other story.

I am not talking about itunes. I am talking about having an mp3 player over 80 gigs also you can use unused space as flash drive.
