Hi, I have just finished my first indie game review and would like to know what seems to be important, useful and what parts I should avoid. It is a puzzle game for Android and iOS called Walkabout. Anyway here is my review: http://exorte.com/walkabout/ Feedback is very appreciated.
Give a few personal experiences with the game. People tend to take other people's personal opinions and thoughts into account more than descriptions of what's happening.

play the game with live commentary.
play the game with live commentary.
I don't speak English very well, so it's not really an option for me.
Don't do a #/100 system, do #/10. It's clearer to the individual reading it, and makes sense. Treat each section as area's deserving two sub-sections. You nail it with gameplay (describing it, and then going into further detail with the technical bits). If you give a low score or near perfect score, renforce it with a why or why not statement.
Thanks for feedback. Really great tips. I will use them in my next review and will edit this one.
I think you should stick with the scores out of 100. Scores out of 10 are too hard to judge and not very accurate, numbers aren't a very good way to rate games anyways so if you stray away from "/100" you'd be best going without numbers at all. Replay value and if it's worth the price are also good topics to mention.
Maybe some screen shots of the game to introduce the concept and things.
Game is quite challenging and with a steep learning curve.
First you could expand the ideas a bit. Explain a few of the challenging aspects (like puzzles, enemies or whatever) and illustrate with specific examples in specific levels. It's personal preference, but I'd go with a more formal tone to suit the review. I would also introduce the game a little. I don't really get a feeling of what the game is about.
Thanks again. I will try to implement as many of your tips as I can.
Be objective most of the review
