Hello all I have a netbook, the HP Mini 702EA,I decided to format it with a fresh install of windows XP Home Edition (OEM Retail),but everytime I run Portal,or Half Life I get a Bsod,I tried to update my video drivers, but still,I even reverted back to the original drivers that came with the CD,but still no luck.Till now I only had bsods when I am running a 3D game.I tested the memory via BIOS and it gave me no problems.
Please help.
I have never had any problems before, here are the specs:
Intel Atom 1.6Ghz
1GB DDR2 RAM
Intel GMA 950
Well, the GPU isn't really made for 3D Gaming.
My old laptop had that GPU, and it was being such a bitch when i tried to play 3D games on it.
But try google "Intel GMA 950 Gaming" and try look at this: http://mediakey.dk/~cc/gaming-with-intel-gma-900-gma-950-915-or-945-glgvgm-based-chipsets/
You could also try look for some custom intel GMA 950 drivers, that might help too.
Hey,I already tried gaming on it and it ran fine, however when I formatted and did the exact same thing again,it BSODs,well I'm taking it to the supplier maybe I will get a replacement.
Good advice next time you buy a laptop.
NEVER BUY A LAPTOP WITH A GPU THAT IS INTEL INTEGRATED!
/caps
But just try some different drivers.
The thing is, when I got it earlier, it ran Portal, WoW, Perfectly fine, and now it is giving me these errors. The driver I have are the ones that came with the laptop CD.

Depends on what you're going to use the laptop for.

True.. But when it's for gaming, never aim for a laptop with a Intel GPU.

Which means they are probably outdated. Download the newest ones.
I find this hilarious that you're playing games like Portal and WoW on an HP Netbook. An Acer or Gateway netbook? that's pretty nuts. But on a Compaq Netbook!? That's insane!
Anyway getting back on topic, I had this same issue with my Server PC when I first formatted it. You need to hunt around for the drivers for it.
...Brb going to get netbook now and going to put portal on it lol
