2 problems, Bluescreen when open file browsers thing and Google redirects to ad websites

Alright so, When I use file browsers on Windows 7 such as the one found on steam to add a new game to steam, or to change avatar on steam...or anything like that, I bluescreen. Which is obviously a fucking nuisance because browsing my files is quite useful. I've run virus scans with AVG, Avast, Malware Bytes, and S&D and it just won't go away.
And my other problem is that Google occasionally redirects me to ad websites, sites that are apparently malicious (which is literally the reason I got Firefox and Noscript), and my friend gave me an apparent fix for the piece of shit, but it didn't work out for me...so any suggestions?
What's the BSOD say?
And my brother had the same Google problem. I'm pretty sure I couldn't find a fix and just reformated.
Sounds like you have a few things wrong with your system. What I think it is, that (a) virus(es) of some sort messed with your system, and caused stability problems along with the redirecting your are experiencing.
You can try every anti-virus program you can get your hands on, and see if it solves anything. You may have to update some drivers also, after you fix the virus issue.
Always keep your PC clean and uncluttered.
Don't forget to run virus scans and everything in safemode. And don't forget MBAM.

I guess I'll go set my computer into safe mode right now and set it to scan with everything I've got, any suggestions? Like I said, I've got Malware bytes, Avast, and AVG
Mhmmmmm. System Restore.
Yeah, honestly, you should reformat. I remember not being able to get rid of that at all. If anything, double check your proxy settings. I had something a few days back that would proxy through 127.0.0.1 on some random port. If you can set that back to none, that might fix your problem.

That might fix the BSOD, but definitely not the redirections.
Control Panel (view in icons) > Recovery > Restore to sometime before this started.

I entirely disagree.
That's the sad part, system restore only goes back to...yesterday
Also make sure to update all your software after the Restore, especially Microsoft security updates.

I have a feeling it has to do with me changing the % that it can use of my hdd...since it stood as a big 120 gigs of space taker
There might have been a virus. A lot of times, they will delete the restore 'saves'.
Try booting to safemode then running System restore.
Eh, I guess I'll do that safemode scanning later...to be honest the virus isn't my top priority

However, when I do this, I will try everything I can and report back! Thank you all.

Do you listen to a single thing I say? Viruses will delete all system restores.

Don't gotta get rude, he's just trying to help.

It's worth a shot. You can see some things in safemode that you wouldn't otherwise. Perhaps the virus is masking the saves. Who knows.
The ad thing is definitely a virus, something like "TDSS Rootkit", my brother had the same problem a while back, I'll go see if I can find the fix I used.
...I really need that fix
-snip-
A few months ago I had a similar problem - a bitch of a Vundo infection. Google redirects, bluescreens, removed priveledges and whatnot. After about a week I got rid of a large majority of the crap it installed, but the rootkit remained, causing me to get kicked out of every PunkBuster game I joined.
I eventually posted on the BleepingComputer forums (the "Am I infected? What do I do?" forum) and they got it sorted out using a program called Combofix. It's probably best that you ask them before you consider using it, though.
Apologies for the 'advertisement', but since noone's yet been able to help the OP, I figure it's probably his best shot.

Some viruses can hide in restore point data or whatever anyway.
I forgot the exact wording.
