Come on already. A serious game like that shouldn't have cosmetics because it takes longer to recognize what your enemy is holding and sometimes changes the silhouette. This already screws me over in MOBA games when I can't recognize my enemy and end up choosing the wrong tactic when dealing with them (such as pursuing nukers, or stunners next to towers).
Thought in a way it could be nice, I hope that if this is real and not something thrown in to mess with people that it doesn't mean its gonna go F2P ALREADY.
I hope they make it f2p its going to make cs even more popular.
CS is the last series that should get cosmetic items. Glad I stayed with 1.6

Cosmetic weapon skins will hardly effect anything, and will mostly be there to show off and brag. You don't have to use them if you don't want to, and if the skins make things more recognizable, go ahead and shoot them if it's easier. [editline]13th August 2013[/editline] Not to mention it looks like the funds go towards e sports, which just fuels the competition and will make the scene bigger, similar to the International, a very fun event to watch. Dota 2 is no less competitive because of cosmetics.
Aslong as they don't add hats I will be ok with this, and aslong as they stick to camoflauges (which would actually be pretty cool) or smaller items on your guns or something like that
I'm up for weapons, but I fucking swear if any hats get put in the fires of hell will have no fury like mine
I'm up for weapons, but I fucking swear if any hats get put in the fires of hell will have no fury like mine
Valve has played it very smart with Dota's cosmetics. They all look good and fit the art style and don't change anything about the core game. I am confident it will be the same with CS:GO.
uhm you're really dumb if you think they're gonna be putting in flaming top hats into CS:GO
The information was uncovered by Redditor wickedplayer494 , who dug into a recent update and found crates, keys, and skins.
Uh xPaw did the extracting, all I did was just point out the schema update
CS jumped the shark. The difference from this and tf2 is that tf2's core game was well defined and not very broken/buggy when they got into cosmetics. I feel insulted by them doing all this cosmetic stuff when movement, weapons, and maps already have plenty of problems

TF2 has a shitload of problems, as does Dota, but they both manage to get a constant stream of good cosmetics while also working on fixing the games.
While both of those games have their problems, to me, csgo is at a whole other state, like its still in beta, while the others are release candidates.
Dota is hardly a technical release. The game isn't even finished, if you want to be picky.
I hope it isn't drops and stuff. Cosmetic unlocks for achievements would be good. That way people could earn them and it wouldn't be all about 'trading for cooler skins' or idling csgo or something stupid like that. I doubt much of the CS community would pay attention to trading and stuff, but it'd be nice to see skill-based (well, more skill-based than trading/idling) cosmetic unlocks. But I guess a lot of store money would fund the competitive scene.
Weapon camouflages mostly, and not flourescent ones either.

There's no reason why this would phase technical updates negatively in anyway, and in fact, could add incentive for the devs to put resources into balance if the game brings in more cash. No one should be upset about this as long as they don't go crazy with the cosmetics. (Unusuals, etc.)
