Those numbers. So alien to me.
I can't imagine pissing away even a dollar in a game.
Knowing folks are doing it enough to make piles of hundreds of millions of dollars is ... well it disgusts me.

Maybe because it's the business model? Dota 2 even says outright that you can get anything in the game without spending a single cent, yet I have spent at least $30 on it because I like the game so much. Doing something for free without expecting anything in return would be a terrible business model, and even though I think League's specific model is sort of gross, most of that money is probably from people who like the game a lot.

How the fuck does one determine that a legitimate business is disgusting based on the fact that it makes money
I'm well aware how League is free and the microtransactions are optional, but I have a nagging feeling that those numbers are going to "inspire" companies to push even more microtransactions on games.
I didn't say the business was bad. (Though it feels shady and exploitative. But it just feels that way and is just how I feel about it. ie, "how the fuck" does someone have an opinion)
What disgusts me is the pissing away of all that money.
Imagine spending good cash on a virtual condom for your dragon wizard's hat.
Or something even less tangible like a stat buff.
P. T. Barnum would be proud.

If companies want to push out more good f2p models with cosmetic only microtransactions they are more than welcome to. I didn't even mind the grind in games like Warframe until things were only available with money. I've spent probably $200-300 cash on League over the course of two years simply because it's enjoyable and I put more than enough hours into it to justify it, I was not forced in the slightest.

actually when it comes to microtransactions, League is pretty tame. Not without fault, but far less egregious than the majority of other F2P games.

That's because Dota2 is self sustained because the workshop provides them a virtually unlimited source of merchandise to sell, generating money out of thin air (they pay the creators a chunk of the profits they gain, profits that wouldn't exist if the items weren't submited in the first place.). That's why they can gift items for free, because there is little to no loss from it (because the creation of the items didn't cost anything.).

Pretty much this, I mean the only things that actually affect gameplay are runes and you can't buy those with real money, so the closest thing you can buy is an IP boost so you can earn them in fewer games. I mean there's champions but by the time you're remotely competitive you'll have a decent amount and just buying all the champions wouldn't really give you any advantage if you didn't know how to play them

I'll dislike what I want, thank you very much.
Feel free to suggest what my opinion should be though.

If I enjoy such games like Dota 2 and have well over 400 hours put into it, then I'm pretty okay with buying ingame items every now and then.
Whenever I buy a full price game (50 eu) then I expect at least 20 hours of game time for my money.
