Fueled by the lust for wealth and power, warlords across the continent of Africa engage in constant warfare over diamonds and other precious minerals, employing any means necessary to acquire them. Such precious materials are sold to Western countries, and in turn, fuel a seemingly unending conflict; all to fatten the bank accounts of the warlords fighting in the continent-wide civil war. These conflicts span across the continent of Africa, ravaging corporations, tribes, and civil life in the crossfire. Recently, a massive diamond mine located in the region surrounding the city of Isiro in the northeast portion of the Democratic Republic of Congo was discovered by local villagers. Upon hearing this, two wealthy factions - the Haut-Uele Mining Corporation, and the N’zeto National Militia, realized the immense wealth lying beneath the quiet Congolese village. The Haut-Uele Mining Corporation, owned by a corrupt warlord- and the N’zeto National Militia, run by an even more ruthless warlord, rush into the area to capture the mines and exploit the wealth of Isiro for themselves. Operation Isiro is going to be non-linear, with dynamic gameplay and changing objectives, squad leaders (HVA Staff or Accepted Applicants) will be given a map of the playing area and will receive orders from command for objectives and such – A map will be available on the HVA forums. There will be no uniform restrictions, as armbands will be used for team identification. You can be whatever you’d like, a SAW gunner, sniper, etc – and we will balance teams accordingly. To create more of an “authentic” feel, gearing up as a “rebel” is suggested – think ragtag SQUAD LEADERS: HVA Staff / Accepted Applicants - Which means teams can come and run their own squad. HVA Staff will act as in-game marshals. All players must remain with their squads. HVA forum thread: http://hudsonvalleyairsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=233&pid=1755#pid1755 Update 11/12/12 OP Isiro is less than a week away! That being said - the price will be $25.00 entry, with part of the proceeds going to Hurricane Sandy relief. Gearwise - prepare to be on the field all day and pack a lunch** - lunches will be on-field. Times: 9:30-10:30 - Staging 10:40 - All squads ready to receive orders from command and start the game. 10:40-5:30 - Gametime. (This OP is being organized by myself, Kath, and a friend of ours who also happens to be the owner's wife AKA this shit is going to be great come to this op and shower us with praise) I'll post more tomorra NortheastIFAP unite!
I don't remember Africa being so cold. AK loadout GO
The great thing about wars in Africa is that you can use literally any weapon or gear that you want because they're crazy. Mandatory lifejacket and STG-44 team go!
Erm meh gewrd. I will be there. I just don't know what to wear.
Erm meh gewrd. I will be there. I just don't know what to wear.
See above.
I'm thinking jeans, BDU jacket kept open, T-Shirt with a Chicom, my AK74, a PMG gasmask bag for stuff and probably a baseball cap or something. You should all load up in the back of my pickup and I'll blast that music while driving around the field shooting wildly into the air and screaming incoherently.
just copy the african civil war tumblr
I'm going to buy a Democratic Republic of Congo flag to wear like a cape.
I'm going to be Squad Leader 1 for N'Zeto, so I think depending on how registration and attendance is that'll the the IFAP squad, and extras will go to squad 2.
DO IT. [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] @colin
Just ordered a flag. Who wants to be part of Del-Dingo's Warrior Boys?
im general for N'zeto- be on kath's squad so i can command you guise c:
Hmm, is there some good community interest in this? I might be able to make it, but I'd need to take 2-3 days off and probably crash at Codemoney's.
You can totally crash as my place bro. But not so sure about community interest.
Holy shit this looks awesome.
We're already looking at a interest of around 15 people ready to go and the Operation has only been announced for around 2 hours. We still have to work on a few things and registration
Well I've just submitted my time off request for Saturday-Monday so I should have no problem coming up with you guys. Since we're in Africa, I'm half considering a Rhodesian loadout for maximum freezing to death in New York.
Message me on Facebook or pm me with your Facebook link and ill invite you to the Event page on Facebook. My fb is beneath my avatar.
I'd be all over this if it wasn't 10 hours away with only 3 weeks notice
Spoiler: Isiro II is already being planned for after the holiday season if Isiro I goes well.
I'd be all over this if it wasn't 10 hours away with only 3 weeks notice
Don't make me drive over there.
dangit someone in norcal needs to make an OP edit: oh yeah I remember seeing an OP where this situation is similar but theres a russian PMC thrown into the mix. The leader of the PMC negotiates with the leaders of the other factions on who the PMC will side with, generally with whoevers losing. The guys in the PMC are the most experienced and well-armed guys at the OP so it would be interesting to see how it would be like.
dis gun be gewd [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] (Saving this post for further updates tonight)
fuck, you guys scheduled this on the worst possible weekend for me and catbarf :c
Why's that?
Why's that?
Our 1st semester (well, trimester technically) ends and our school gets out that weekend for thanksgiving break, so we are going to be busy heading home and stuff
:c
Yeah, really wish we could go, but I have to help a friend move out the day before so I need to drive home anyways.
I should buy an old military stretcher and embelish it with like those flowers Hawaiian's wear and christmas lights and hook up a boom box to a car battery so I can blast the theme to the lion king. Sit on it and have my Warrior Boys carry me around.
I hope HVA starts using the arm band identification system during open play, because im sick of getting shot by my own teammates while im flanking. On another note: Do rebels in africa typically use M4's with holo sights and H&K pistols?
