New Macbook Air released - Thinnest, Lightest, most affordable Macbook ever

So Steve Jobs just decided to release the new Macbook Air. It's surprisingly thin (even more so than last gen), and costs $500 less. It defaults with 64GB Flash storage, and can have up to 256GB.
Of course, comes with 320M graphics, a Core 2 Duo (1.4GHz [11in] or 1.86GHz [13in])
Also comes in a 11.6" and a 13" one weighing 2.4lbs and the other weighing just under 3lbs. Pics:

Oh Apple, that pricetag. But your products are so sexy.

Who let you out of the apple forum
:colbert:
Yeah I was gonna say...
There's a forum for this.
My bad, the app was supposed to go in H&W, while this should've gone in Apple. PMing a mod...
999$ for that? That's horribly overpriced. But it does look very temping and shiny.
I feel like it'd snap on me.
awesome - now i can brag to my friends about how my laptop is thinner than theirs!
New Macbook Air - Now without airflow
I must admit making a laptop that thin is quite a feat. But nothing, absolutely nothing would ever compel me to buy a mac.
Why even post Apple things here?
seriously. all you're going to get a handful of Anti-Apple people.

It's nothing revolutionary that only apple can do. Just flash memory and a small mobo.
I love how it says "starting at JUST $999" as if it's unbelievably cheap.
I'm completely floored that it has 128GB of built-in flash memory... that's awesome. (I counted 4x 32GB chips, but there might be 4 more on the other side that I didn't see... >_>)
But for $999, I'd want at least an i3 CPU with a 440m GPU chipset... -_- Over-priced, and outdated hardware makes me wonder why companies like Nintendo and Apple get so much attention with recycling ancient hardware...

because it's small

I don't really get why you're bashing Nintendo.

The last Macbook Air was like $1800-2000. $999 really isn't that bad considering it uses Flash storage.
they'd never be able to fit a fan in there to cool something like an i3

An i3 doesn't require much cooling. About the same as a C2D... which is what's currently used.
Am I the only person who finds laptops thinner than 1 inch ugly?
It's pretty cool for its size, but I would probably still go with a MacBook pro.
Why not just go buy a netbook with a decent 2 ghz processor and a 160-250 gigabyte hard drive and save yourself about $700. You want it to look like a mac? Buy a white one, get an apple sticker, put Ubuntu on and then install the Macbuntu or whatever it is theme. Also, Cairo/Docky/whatever.
Hell even a hackintosh netbook has better specs than this thing...
Still too expensive for a netbook
$1000 for a netbook? I'd rather spend that money on whatever it is they're smoking.
weightless sexy netbook might i add
Still too expensive for a netbook
Apple seem to be going for the netbook audience. Netbooks are cheap and small, the cheapest ones I've seen perform very poorly. I guess having a dedicated gpu is nice, but if you are spending that much might aswell go for a Macbook Pro, if not a decent windows laptop.

Aesthetics. Not performance.

Also, I think Biotoxsin's avatar describes my reaction to reading the OP.

Are those...batteries? What in christs name made them stick 4 in? Sure if one dies the others should still work, but why.
And Solid State storage that can't be removed, oh joy, if and when that dies you lose everything, no exceptions unless you made a backup just before it died.
Yeah, those are batteries. So you're saying you'd only want one battery? And get ~1.5 hours of battery life?
"Now only starting at 999$"
"The most affordable Macbook ever"
Oh fuck you man.
also, cooling, cooling NOWHERE
Yeah, those are batteries. So you're saying you'd only want one battery? And get ~1.5 hours of battery life?
Or maybe have a single battery or two batteries that hold a charge for longer?
