So I was on my jogging trip and while I was on the forrest part of the trip I heard a loud chirp. I turned around and wondered what it was untill I heard it again. And then I saw it, a little crow, on the ground.
After I went investigating closer the birds parents started screeching at me, it was apparently learning to fly. As being the stupid idiot I am, I picked it up to move it to a safer place from possible predators (before the screeching parents arrived).
Now I'm afraid that the parents might disown it because it has my scent now (thou if I remember right, birds recognize each other by sound, as atleast all penguin races do).
Tomorrow while going on the trip, if the little crow has been dissowned, I see as my personal duty to adopt it because it would be my reason why it could not live.
The only problem I see about the adoption is my whiney mother.
As the quite smart community as Facepunch is, I'm asking for your opinion and advice for what I should do if shit hits the fan.
P.S. I adore crows, they are intelligent and beautiful animals. The little crow is a hooded crow.
This should be amusing.
you MURDERER
I don't think this will end up well, but best of luck to you.
the whole parent disowning by scent is an old wives tale.
Wait. You expect it to be in the exact same place that you put it in, or did you bring it with you? If you took it with you, do you expect you'll be able to find the parents again? I don't understand what happened.
The parents saw were I left it so it shouldn't be in big trouble.
I think either they'll take it away or it'll die there. You would still not be able to find it again.
NEVER touch little fledgling chicks. Not only because of the disowning factor but also because of their fragile nature.
But kudos to you because you did it with the best intentions.
I woke up today as I heard a loud bang, I watched out from the window and I see my grandpa with hunting shotgun. The crow fell as the duck shots flew through the little fella. Kinda sad, the starling who always flies in our garden is now lonely, they were good friends.
I'm pretty sure birds don't disown their progeny via smell. They're not fucking retarded.
Cats do it, if you touch newborn kitten with other smell then they are on their own

Ah, no they don't. I know these things, as a crazy cat lady.

Represent.
I once scared a young/smaller crow and it started screeching and other crows (like 20) started chasing and attacking me.
Next year when I turn 18, I might start ordering a spaceful cage and contacting a breeder who has crows.
It would be such a nice pet and my parents couldn't bitch about it.
