WASHINGTON — A group of conservative Republican lawmakers introduced a resolution Friday calling for Robert Mueller to recuse himself as special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, along with Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona and Louie Gohmert of Texas, said Mueller should step down because he was FBI director during the investigation of a botched uranium deal between the Russians and Uranium One, a Canadian energy company, of which a portion of the uranium reserves required US approval. Gaetz's issue is that despite evidence of corruption, Mueller's FBI did not bring any charges, therefore he should recuse himself from the current investigation of potential collusion between Russian officials and President Donald Trump's campaign, which is unrelated to the uranium deal. The FBI did bring charges in the uranium case under former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump eventually fired. "These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI. As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised," Gaetz said in a statement. "He must step down immediately." However, many of Gaetz's Republican colleagues have expressed full faith in Mueller and his investigation. Senate Republicans have even introduced bills to create a barrier between Trump and Mueller in the event the president attempts to fire him.
Source: Business Insider I really hope this is contained to just a few crackpot congressmen.
The article doesn't give this, but I believe the official title given to this resolution is "DELETE THIS".
why would the fact that he has history investigating Russian bribery/dealings be a conflict of interest if anything this sounds like more credentials?...
Well that doesn't seem shady at all, no sir.
Another desperate move to shield themselves from exposure. 'oh wait! Mueller is a bad egg too!!'
To be fair, Matt Gaetz is a shitbag so nothing about this should be surprising. He wanted legislation to keep people's mugshots from being published if they weren't convicted, which sounds nice except for the fact that the reason he wants it is just to hide his own mugshot.
In 2008, Gaetz was arrested for a DUI as he was driving back from the Swamp, a nightclub on Okaloosa Island, Florida, in a 2001 BMW SUV registered to his father. While he was arrested and refused to take a breathalyzer test, "he didn't have his license suspended for a year when he refused the breath test — as Florida law dictates. And he didn't have that refusal used against him in a criminal proceeding." At the time of his arrest and consequent criminal proceedings, his father was serving as a local politician and he avoided a DUI conviction, despite the fact that the police reported that "Gaetz fumbled for his license and registration, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he swayed and staggered when he got out of the car."
He's also riding on Trumps coattails to the point of chanting "Make America Great Again" at his own town hall meetings.

The Uranium One thing is such a load of shit. Just like Benghazi, this is unsubstantiated bullshit. Fuck how do these people get elected
"As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised" I genuinely can't tell if these people believe their own bullshit or if they just hope that we'll believe it. Either way this is beyond stupid, not that it's got a chance of passing anyway.
Take note of everybody involved in this bill. These elected officials are trying to bury the investigation into the corruption of their own party. Remember their names, and remember that they fought against justice.
lol keep struggling fuckos
Trickle-Down-Treason.
Anyone know if there was anything like this in the early days of the Watergate investigation? Democrats held Congress then but I could imagine some GOP members would still have tried it
Literally a swamp creature
Throw it in with all the other signs 2016 and 2017 are an elaborate simulation, alongside "Reality Winner", Trump as POTUS, etc
Even if he did someone would just take his place I would imagine.
This is such blatant corruption and an obvious attempt to cover their own asses. They all need removed from power.
Literally a swamp creature
Drain Gaetz out of the swamp?

I do wonder if this is in reaction to something that will drop later today...
Why has nobody posted a picture of this Northern Florida politician? And nobody believed me when I said Northern Florida is the most inbred place in the country.

It just comes across as petty.
I did get a good laugh at Andy Biggs wearing an American Flag tie in his official Congress portrait. He looks like he's auditioning for Better Call Saul or something.
I don't care what they do in the HOUSE. It will never make it's way to the senate. AND even if that were possible. IT would never pass. They're plenty of high ranking republicans and democrats in the senate expressing their desire to allow him to continue his work.
Be civil, the guy is a douche but there's no reason to bring his appearance into this. False equivalence I say.
Furthermore while this is not a committee that Mueller is in charge of. Republicans and democrats held a committee for Benghazi for 2 years. Do you think an investigation by a team smaller than that committee will accomplish more in less time? I doubt anything will happen to Mueller. Doing so is almost certain political suicide. This is just me thinking out loud.
