• Configuring LAN between XP and Vista

I want to transfer some files from 2 PC's. As you see, one of them has XP installed, and the another one Vista. I can see another PC on my workgroup window, but: - on XP I need to type in login and password; - on Vista I get an error about wrong adress. Any suggestions?
Disable the retarded Network Security shit in Vista then you have access
Where?
Set up an FTP server with Filezilla. It's WAY easier than using Windows networking and not hard at all. I used to use Windows networking for file transfer and I could never just set it up and let it work. I switched to FTP over the LAN and performance is much more consistent. ... If someone can't do something as easy as windows sharing i doubt he knows how to setup FTP
Network worked when there were 2 XP's. Just tell me, where can I disable that network security, because I assume that this isn't UAC.
... If someone can't do something as easy as windows sharing i doubt he knows how to setup FTP
It is not that hard. All you need to do is setup an account/password and where the folders are.
- on XP I need to type in login and password;
Just type in your Vista username and password. You can also turn off the password requirement by going into Vista > Network and Sharing Center (search for in on the start menu) > Disable "require a password" or whatever the option is.
Just type in your Vista username and password. Also, my brother [he uses PC with Vista] solved that somehow, and I needed to run "home or small firm network creator" [I live in Poland, so I'm using polish version]. And now, it is possible to see shared files, on XP from Vista level, but when I'm trying to reach Vista's folders, I receive that damn error about restrictions. But I don't have to type any login or password tough. So problem is somehow solved.
