Pull up your pants, offenders will be warned under the ordinance approved on Tuesday by the Ocala city council, or else face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine. The ban on saggy pants was immediately effective on city property, including streets, sidewalks, parks, public pools and municipal buildings. Ocala joins several U.S. cities prohibiting or campaigning against what many defend as a fashion statement. Councilwoman Mary Rich said the city is not trying to play fashion police but rather ensure public decency. "You wouldn’t want your mother coming to an affair downtown at the square and having people with their pants down to their knees,” said Rich, 73, who has fought for the ban for six years. Rich said police intend to issue warnings first in hopes violators will willingly hike up their pants. Ocala’s ban follows a law passed by Florida legislators prohibiting low-riding pants at school starting with the 2011-12 academic year.
http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/florida-city-pull-up-your-pants-or-face-up-to-six-months-in-prison
ATTENTION: ANY CITIZENS OBSERVED NOT TO BE WEARING THEIR CIVIC UNIFORMS WILL BE PROSECUTED AND TERMINATED.
Now if only they banned (c)rap and Tyler Perry films; man that would be my paradise.
then this happens again and he never gets charged for it because ~celebrity~
Up to 6 months in jail seems really fucking harsh, a fine should be enough imo.

If they must make it illegal, it should be a fine at the very most, fucking jail time is unreasonable.
What the fuck? Why can't I wear whatever I want as long as I don't indecently expose my genitals or my butt?
Since when have non-violent crimes against fashion been cause for imprisonment?
As much as I find "sagging" a dumb fashion fad, 6 months in jail and a $500 fine on top of it is unbelievably stupid.
Since when have non-violent crimes against fashion been cause for imprisonment?
Indecent exposure? Although I will admit jailtime is a bit harsh, but it seems that's just the maximum possible sentence, which you probably won't get until you've done it quite a few times.
i just realised i fucked the title up i need to go to bed.
Imprison people with plumbers cracks too?
I personally don't like saggy pants, but going full crazy and putting violators in jail for 6 months is very harsh. I think people should be able to wear whatever they want as long as it is not offensive and in socially acceptable boundaries.
so short shorts = okay woman in bikini = okay having waistband below (covered) butt = not okay because old people said so seriously i think this trend is retarded, but if you're in favor of it being illegal and people actually being prosecuted for it you're a fucking idiot
People who are rating this winner are stupid, its just wrong this sorta stuff. Putting someone in jail for six months because you disagree with their choice of clothing? That's just some russian style type bullshit right there.

Literally the fashion police.
Wow, this is really stupid. like wow. on top of the already obvious reasons why this is a stupid idea, what if you just can't afford or can't find clothes that fit correctly? i used to be pretty underweight and my jeans would constantly sag unless i wore an uncomfortably tight belt (i mean like, punching extra holes in it tight).

That trend is still around? I need to go out more
The trick to avoiding persecution is to just walk around in your underwear.
I had to double check that this wasn't some Onion article. This is so dumb it hurts. I'm having a stupid attack or something. How can people this fucking retarded be put in charge of anything bigger than a ball bit?
The trick to avoiding persecution is to just walk around in your underwear.
Which is actually legal in most places. Hell, here it's legal to walk around naked as a man as long as you don't have a boner. Sexist laws are great huh guys?
Which is actually legal in most places. Hell, here it's legal to walk around naked as a man as long as you don't have a boner. Sexist laws are great huh guys?
no its not, indecent exposure laws state otherwise
no its not, indecent exposure laws state otherwise
Generally underwear can be considered covered enough if you're not wearing really revealing shit or have a boner. I shouldn't say most, but quite a few places have no law regarding anything other than actual genital exposure. As to my local law, yes, yes it is, city law states that it is indeed legal to walk around naked as a man, so long as he is not sexually aroused.
"You wouldn’t want your mother coming to an affair downtown at the square and having people with their pants down to their knees,” said Rich, 73, who has fought for the ban for six years.
Fucking old people
who here reckons this would've become a law if only white people did it?
Clothes that fit correctly will cost less than 6 months of your life and $500.
uh, yeah but thats besides the point, you shouldn't be able to jail someone for dressing a way you don't like.
This is just plain stupid.
