Last week, social media supporters of Hillary Clinton passed around a spreadsheet listing the names and personal information of Electoral College voters. Helped along by news sites like Buzzfeed, Clintonites made hundreds of calls to EC delegates, hoping to persuade them to switch their vote to Clinton when the EC meets this month.
But that didn’t work so well. And so now, some Electoral College voters say, they’re receiving fewer attempts at persuasion, and more strong-arming—including the occasional death threat.
“At first everyone was kinda enchanted by it,” one Texas elector told local media. “Now all the electors are starting to get beaten down. There are some electors who have been threatened with harm or with death.”

Bruce Ash, Arizona's GOP national committeeman, said he received more than 300 emails Thursday.
He said the effort is "an outright political maneuver," citing "clone emails." In some instances, when he deletes one, 10 or 15 more flood into his inbox.
He said he has sent images of the emails to the state party's attorneys. He believes the emails amount to an attempt to suppress votes for Trump.
Ash declined to share any of the emails but described them: "They demonize me, they call me a homophobic, an isolationist, a bigot, a misogynist, and an anti-Semite, which is interesting because I'm Jewish."
Ash added, "They are hateful. And for a couple of days I answered them by thanking them and then explaining to them that I felt I had an obligation to the majority of the voters in Arizona who voted for him ... and honoring their vote."

Michael Banerian wants to show that young adults still have faith in the political system, but he said his selection as one of Michigan’s 16 Electoral College voters has prompted emails urging him to vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton and even threatening death.
“You have people saying ‘you’re a hateful bigot, I hope you die,’ ” he said. “I’ve had people talk about shoving a gun in my mouth and blowing my brains out. And I’ve received dozens and dozens of those emails. Even the non-threatening-my-life emails are very aggressive.”
The Detroit News verified one message containing a death wish and another containing a death threat, in which the person told Banerian he would “put a bullet” in his mouth. Banerian said he deleted the rest of the emails and messages “because as you can imagine they’re clogging up my email.”
Sure making a great case as to why they should change their minds
Next time someone in the RC says "unban or I'll blow your brains out" I'll be sure to do whatever they say

Noted.
This is going to change their minds, why would it? All its going to is going to get you arrested and probably make 100% sure they vote in Trump

seeing someone give approximately 0 shits about online death threats is oddly refreshing
It's actually bad, i'm mean really bad. These are the same kind of liberals That genuinely believe, Trump is going to consoldate power and turn dictator for life, while ignoring facts that kinda disprove it.

Would make up a very nice lawsuit case when the inevitable happens.
Fuck those cheese loving cunts.

I mean trump has shown a willful disregard for checks and balance but I don't think the rest of the government has.
Lol you retards Clinton conceded. I don't think Hillary would accept the result if the electoral college decided to finally betray democracy.
i've made that point before on FP but apparently conceding doesn't mean that she's out of the race somehow?
I mean trump has shown a willful disregard for checks and balance but I don't think the rest of the government has.
No they haven't and Trump sounds like he really doesn't want to govern hard.
i've made that point before on FP but apparently conceding doesn't mean that she's out of the race somehow?
Conceding is a formality. It's still possible for the electoral representatives to pick her.
Though she'd probably still decline due to the concession.
They arnt all going to switch their votes to clinton, but they could change their votes to basically anyone else and stop trump from gaining the 270 votes he needs. There is already 6 electors saying they will be casting votes for someone else which would be the most since the 1800s, although the 37 or so votes that would need to be changed probably won't happen a large amount of electors defecting would certainly inspire looking into overhauling the system.
Hope these jerks get thrown in jail. Sending death threats because your candidate didn't win is childish. It's also illegal to send threats as well so there shouldn't be any problems putting them in the slammer.

Besides that fact that it would be a huge waste of money tracking anonymous people down on the internet.
I think she has the integrity to not accept the result if the electoral college voted against the people.
Really? I think both Clinton and Trump would snag the presidency in any possible case
Also the people voted for Clinton, so they are voting agaisnt the people?
i've made that point before on FP but apparently conceding doesn't mean that she's out of the race somehow?
Their whole point is that the concession is not "legally binding". But at this point it's such an iconic part of the electoral process that there is no way she could get on board with an effort like this without causing massive embarrassment to herself.
I think she has the integrity to not accept the result if the electoral college voted against the people.
What? She did win the popular vote. So it wouldn't be "against the people" but, she will lose the elector college vote since I don't think(not 100% sure) an elector changed his/her vote before. So Trump won. No means to fight that, but fighting the electoral college system is a good idea for future elections
If the electoral college of a red state changed their votes to clinton, since she got the popular vote, would it be betraying or protecting the people?
some real chicken and egg type stuff here.
i've made that point before on FP but apparently conceding doesn't mean that she's out of the race somehow?
Legally and practically are different in this situation
I think she has the integrity to not accept the result if the electoral college voted against the people.
You realize we're talking about Hillary Clinton, here?
The one who hired the head of the DNC after being fired for rigging the election in Clinton's favor?

They would be betraying the people. They are supposed to vote for the candidate their people selected. By going against the people they are no longer representing the interest of those they are representing, but rather their own interests.
I though trump supports were suppose to be the ones that were nuts? not Clinton. They must both be then?
I though trump supports were suppose to be the ones that were nuts? not Clinton. They must both be then?
Everybody is nuts
They would be betraying the people. They are supposed to vote for the candidate their people selected. By going against the people they are no longer representing the interest of those they are representing, but rather their own interests.
I don't get this, if the electoral college is suppose to stop bigger states from being the only popular states, how is it okay in those states to have the majority null out of votes of the minority, I.E. Republicans in Illinois, Democrats in Texas
I though trump supports were suppose to be the ones that were nuts? not Clinton. They must both be then?
Both sides have some legitimately awful supporters.
Some, because generalizing entire groups of people is what's aggravating this climate to begin with.
Maybe integrity was the wrong word, but she understands that it would be a poor decision. Because then she would be part of a betrayal of your democratic process. It would end horribly.
[editline]22nd November 2016[/editline]
Your democratic process sucks, but you can't just change the rules on the fly.
Yeah, not saying too. I was just stating that it really wouldn't be a going against the people. I do think we should change the system for future elections.
It would set a really bad precedence if they did 180 because of some bullies. That would be even more anti-democratic than it already is.
These guys are terrorist by definition...this is the type of democracy they want. What a joke.
These weirdos trying to usurp the electoral college have no idea what they're doing. Even if they somehow miraculously managed to get a significant number of Trump electors to switch, a bunch of Clinton electors with Trump sympathies would just switch their votes as well.
