I own both Gnomoria and Towns but really, if you had to choose go for Gnomoria.
Towns used to be so much more accessible before they changed the terrain depth stuff. I used to sink hours into it but when they changed that it just lost its charm for me.

Heh, exactly the same here. I can still bring a lot of hours in the game but thats when i only have Towns installed since i find Gnomoria a lot smoother to play.
one thing i don't like about Towns is that i can't find a wall of dirt to replace what i've accidently built, and i have to delete things one at of time, there is no mass selection like an RTS drag screen thing.
Gnomoria is find but sadly there is no sandbox-like mod for the game, and don't really got much content to go up on.

Oh that is planned. I asked on the forum for something like that and the dev said it was already on the to-do list.
Yep, stiiiiill crap.
Call me crazy but I find the interface in Towns and Gnomoria incredibly hard and unintuitive.
And this is coming from a DF player.
