I haven't been keeping track of the temps on my laptop until recently. I have a Gateway NV52 with a ql-65 processor and it averages 80C :(. I kept hwmonitor open and under load with it on my lap it hit 98C! This is with me having the whole left side hanging off my lap (cpu vents are completely open to air). Hard drive also can get up to 62C... Besides a laptop cooling pad, what can I do?
Holy fucktits, open it up (if you feel comfortable doing so) and clean out dust. Buy a tube of AS5 or MX-2 and replace stock thermal grease.
Yeah it just shut down after hitting 100C. There's no dust to clean from the vents so I gotta take it apart. Thanks
why did you censor shit
Garry or the like. [editline]09:18PM[/editline] Btw stress testing with prime 95 now, averaging 93 degrees in my cold kitchen. Every couple minutes it'll jump in like 5 seconds down to 80 and then go right back up. Throttling or broken sensor?
Fun fact: FP isn't censored.
K cool. Opened cpu z up and it's throttling so guess I'ma reseat everything.
Yeah i had a problem like that in my Asus M50, laptop would reach 103C on my gpu.
faulty temperature sensor i thinks
Strange, probably a faulty sensor as laptop processors usually dont get very hot.
Both you guys above me are wrong. I've had a laptop (Pavilion DV5) that idled at nearly 100C after a year and a half in use. It hurt like hell when i touched the exhaust.
Strange, probably a faulty sensor as laptop processors usually dont get very hot.
My old laptop used to get to like 90+C
How do you know they are wrong? Exactly what component idled at 100C? I doubt many components would survive a year at 100C.
Did i say the parts were at that temperature a whole year?
I misread your post. It idled at 100C AFTER a year of use. My question is what component is at 100C?
I found a site with the specs of the cpu, the max operating temperature is 100C. With cpu z open, I can see it'll start to throttle if it gets to 95-98 for more than a minute. Right now it's idling at 65-70 with a low cpu load... Maybe I'll just prime95 it forever, let it burn, and get it covered under the bestbuy warranty :D (yes I bought it at bestbuy, had a really good sale)
You could always buy a Laptop cooling pad, that could help cut down on the temps.
let me guess you put the laptop on your bed and the dust clogs the heat fins off get a can of air a blow it out
lol thought this was to do with high templar 0_o
let me guess you put the laptop on your bed and the dust clogs the heat fins off get a can of air a blow it out
No dust clogging anything. I'm very conscious of leaving the laptop on my bed; I always use it on my lap or on a desk
