How is this game even faring? I haven't seen anything bad about it but it's episodic nature is odd.
Looking forward to this. Been waiting for the full thing
Their drm/online stuff is garbage though.
I know that people would rather not have it there and it IS garbage. However, it's slightly better nowadays. Before you were kicked out of the game and back to the menu if you lost connection at all, but now it just pauses the game and asks you to reconnect before continuing. It's silly and the game has no excuse for it to be there, but I did want to point out it's not as bad as it was at release. Edit: As for the game itself, it's really fun. The levels in the game are some of the best the Hitman series has had, especially Sapienza. Gameplay is really solid, unlike in Absolution.

Optimization is eh, but it's not as shoddy as it was at launch either, I can run it smooth now.
Can I play without an internet connection, which I don't have a lot of times?
Can I play without an internet connection, which I don't have a lot of times?
I think there's a one time online activation, but then you can play offline. However you won't be able to play Contracts mode, participate in the Elusive targets and iirc you won't be able to do challenges and won't be able to get/use your rewards. However story contracts and everything else is fully playable offline.
Can I play without an internet connection, which I don't have a lot of times?
I'd rather just wait on it, until you have consistent internet, otherwise you will have very limited equipment and miss out on half the fun.
How is this game even faring? I haven't seen anything bad about it but it's episodic nature is odd.
It's really good. Graphics are great, levels are huuge giving you enough possibilities, lots of content. However, there is no possibility/difficulty to make the gameplay kinda time-based. As it is right now the game only moves when you do. Events only get triggered when you are ready. It kinda defeats the purpose of doing improvisation that many people want.
How is this game even faring? [editline]a[/editline]
the elusive targets give the game legs.
Imo the fact that the targets are elusive is what kicks the legs out from under the game. Like great, I can kill Gary Busey this week! Oh wait, nevermind, I dropped a mine at my feet because I can't fit both a pistol and a mine in a trashcan and it blew me up so I can't try again, how fun.

It would take way all the uniqueness of it if you could just play it like any other contract.
It doesn't really matter how unique it is whenever it evaporates and they leave an already content-sparse game with even less.
I wouldn't say it's that content sparse. I've mainly spent my time on it replaying the main missions for challenges and after 65 hours I'm still finding new stuff to do. I agree that elusive contracts should eventually cycle or something though, it'd keep the game refreshing and future buyers shouldn't have to miss out.
It doesn't really matter how unique it is whenever it evaporates and they leave an already content-sparse game with even less.
Content-sparse? That's the last thing the new Hitman is. The main missions have almost infinite replayability and a crazy amount of different ways you can do every single thing and then on top of that there's the user-made contracts and the escalations.

If you've missed them, it's gone forever. That's the whole "selling point" of them, and that's the main focus of my problem with them. I'd be cool with missing out on them if come the end of each season they released all the Elusive Targets of the season as regular contracts that I could retry.
Content-sparse? Every game has "almost infinite replayability" if you give yourself new ways to play every time.
