Bill Clinton says Bernie Sanders is a "Blame Canidate"
Faced with the prospect of an upset loss to Bernie Sanders in Ohio and other Midwestern states, Hillary Clinton’s surrogate attack dog Bill Clinton hit the road Tuesday, knocking Sanders as the “blame candidate” and urging voters to back Hillary.
While Hillary Clinton leads comfortably in the two Southern states holding primaries Tuesday – Florida and North Carolina – polls show the race much closer in Ohio, Missouri and Illinois, where Sanders has been campaigning frequently in a bid to build on last week’s upset victory in Michigan.
Her former president husband was on Chicago’s South Side Tuesday morning to chat with voters in the Illinois contest. In an interview published by NBC, Clinton downplayed the Michigan loss – but turned up the heat on Sanders when asked why the Democratic front-runner is not doing better in the polls in Illinois.
“I think you know the answer to that,” Bill Clinton said. “This should be a race for president. And there is a blame candidate and a responsibility candidate in this race.”
Referring to his wife, he said, “I'm betting the responsibility candidate will win.”
Since hitting the campaign trail earlier this year, Bill Clinton has oscillated between holding his fire and playing the role of elder statesman, and turning up the attacks on his wife’s insurgent and class warrior rival.
Ahead of February’s New Hampshire primary – which Sanders ultimately won – Clinton mocked Sanders’ lofty promises and claims. “When you’re making a revolution, you can’t be too careful about the facts,” he said at the time.
He went so far as to call out some Sanders supporters for criticizing Hillary Clinton online with attacks “that are literally too profane often, not to mention sexist, to repeat.” (Sanders disavowed those attacks at the time.)
Sorry for Fox News, but no one else has reported on it yet.
What the hell do they mean by "blame candidate"?
If this race teaches America anything, it should be that direct relatives to previous presidents are not allowed to run for president. The family influence carries too much political bias to the masses.
Honestly it's really quite inbred to have a presidential candidate be the wife of a former president.
can't blame the people funding you
It's a rather good political 'gotcha' because if you try and respond to it you are almost living up to the title.

Why? We should kill any political aspirations of a former presidents spouse just because of who they're married to?

Yes, they lived in the god damn white house.
As well, any direct relatives should be barred from the office.

yeah sure

Reminds me of Bush, really.
I don't think we should ban relatives but ban former presidents from campaigning for a candidate.

Didn't say we should ban anyone, just saying that having a couple of families changing seats on a throne every few years isn't generally consistent with a democracy. Hasn't happened yet (and Jeb dropped out), but you guys are close.
i suppose he means something like someone who just blames different groups for problems and offers no solutions
yeah Trump is a better candidate for that reason, at least he blames the Mexicans and Muslims but has a solution for it! \sarcasm
If pointing out corruption and problems makes you a blame candidate, and your opponent only gives a shit about that when it suits her, then I have no problem. Bernie gave it a shot. I hope America enjoys its march to corporatocracy and/or destruction. Long live the rigged system.
Yeah the guy constantly on this very day even going "we can work together to remake this country into something that stands for and benefits everyone" is a blame candidate.
what the hell
This is a tactic masterminded by James Carville, basically if a candidate's record is unimpeachable you just use negatively loaded buzzwords without specifically accusing them of anything. Oh that guy, he got [intimation of incompetence] and he [word associated with criminals or illegal activity] and he's not really someone who can get the job done because [phrase used in place of calling someone outright incompetent].
Same old, same old.
Referring to his wife, he said, “I'm betting the responsibility candidate will win.”
Hillary and responsible do not belong in the same sentence together unless that sentence is "Hillary sucks at being responsible"

How? You can say "no, that's not true; can you provide some examples?" and that would be blaming someone.

I joked about it for years, but I'm honestly kind of seeing the genre come to life before my eyes.
