I had a $5000 PC before but is crashed sometimes, so I threw it out.
Are you for real?
Are you for real?
Well I didn't literally threw it out, I gave it to my parents in exchange for getting a Mac, which I need help right now.....
For your shit you should just get the most basic 27 inch iMac. Then you'll have enough money for software and for a cheap car.
I really hope you are joking about spending $10,000 on a computer.
Spend 2000 on a computer and give the rest to underprivileged children in an obscure country
Betting this is a troll.
For your shit you should just get the most basic 27 inch iMac. Then you'll have enough money for software and for a cheap car.
I already have a 2009 Audi A4. Also to the rest of you guys, why would I be trolling, I didn't ask for less, I asked for which option was better. My original post question: Which option is better for my tasks?
Buy a windows [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] Because honestly it looks like you're better off with a 1,000 dollar prebuilt windows
Buy a windows [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] Because honestly it looks like you're better off with a 1,000 dollar prebuilt windows
I don't want Windows, I didn't ask for you to tell me the alternatives. What is wrong with you guys lol, just because I have money doesn't mean you need to tell me to spend less.
If you're going to spend that amount of money at the computer I think you should at least know what one you want without asking people.

My original post question: Which option is better for my tasks?
Your tasks require nothing more than the cheapest-spec Macbook Air. What you've listed above would be a ridiculous waste of money if you're only going to do light tasks.
I don't want Windows, I didn't ask for you to tell me the alternatives. What is wrong with you guys lol, just because I have money doesn't mean you need to tell me to spend less.
Hey I'm just trying to get you to not waste literally thousands of dollars. If you REALLY need a Mac, find a MUCH cheaper one, like 3,000 dollar one. If you really want one of those, go for the 7,000 dollar one.
Your tasks require nothing more than the cheapest-spec Macbook Air. What you've listed above would be a ridiculous waste of money if you're only going to do light tasks.
Okay let me help you: Option 1, or Option 2: Which one for fucks sake. Ahh, now you tell me which one. Can you tell me why the $7000 one is better than the $10000 one?
Okay let me help you: Option 1, or Option 2: Which one for fucks sake. Ahh, now you tell me which one. Those computers are really meant for either people in a profession of art that requires a computer, or business people who are always on a fucking computer. You're niether, and a definite 27 inch screen (rather then another moniter you might buy) is pretty sexy for a laptop, and the stats are so close that it doesnt even matter for those tasks.

Which one should you buy? none of them imo. I already read your post about not wanting alternatives so i'm not going to give you any.
sweet Jesus Christ
fine, send me those 10000 dollars, and I will customize and make you the best Mac for your purposes.
I wish i could piss away money like that. [editline]10th March 2012[/editline] Those uses you listed i could EASILY do on a windows 7 atom box. [editline]10th March 2012[/editline] The only use for a mac pro is for servers (and fucking demanding tasks such as a domain controller for ~5000 clients at that), really REALLY heavy video editing, really REALLY REALLY heavy photo editing and virtual machines.
Even the cheapest of apple tech can handle your needs like Josh said. You will regret spending so much money on a computer which you won't fully utilize. Just go for something more basic like the Mac Mini and buy the Apple monitor.

The prosumer systems'll handle everything you throw at them, IMO. To the OP - I agree with Spree, buy a Mac mini and an Apple™ Thunderbolt© Display. It seems like it'll be all you need - you'll never get around to doing half the stuff you promise, and if you didn't want alternatives you wouldn't have asked FP. If I'd had $10000 to blow I'd build the kickassest Hackintosh ever.

The reason I want to spend $10,000 on Apple products because they are amazing and no other product out there can even go near the performance, power, and sleekness of a Apple Machine. Apple Products are amazing for gaming, programming, video editing, and internet. Nothing else can do this without crashing. I would of spent more than $10,000 because Apple deserves all my money, but my parents disagree. Apple needs every single penny to make the best products ever. I don't care if there are Chinese people who get killed in Apple Factory explosions, they are expendable, and can be replaced with another Chinese thing. That is my opinion.
The most powerful Mac Pro has 2x 5770 what is really fucking underpowered. The iMac would be with much better performance.. I would be happy if my parents would hate expensive things like Macs. I am happy. Apple needs to stop sueing. Then they would be a BIT better company. Apple needs to lower prices. Then the quality would equal to the price.
I know you're trolling but if for whatever reason you're serious just get a Mac Mini and a nice monitor, everything you're doing doesn't require anything powerful.

Like honestly I applaud you and you're great trolling.
Am I dumb or something?
Yes, actually. I was linked to this via the "make fun of computer illiterate people" thread, so I'm not even the only one laughing at you right now.
The reason I want to spend $10,000 on Apple products because they are amazing and no other product out there can even go near the performance, power, and sleekness of a Apple Machine.
Nobody should ever be spending $10k+ on personal computers. I don't care *what* you're a fanboy of, spending that amount of money on stuff is retarded. I would be saying the same of someone pledging to buy $10k worth of Asus, or Alienware, or Dell or Sony or anything. That's about a quarter of the average working American's annual salary.
Apple Products are amazing for gaming, programming, video editing, and internet.
Oh hohoho, man. Let's take that one at a time. Macs suck at gaming. If you doubt this, check what I'm posting from. Literally three quarters of my Steam library *will* *never* *run* on a Mac. I can install 57 of my 217 games. So I'm locked out of such great games as Arkham Asylum, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and Deus Ex. Plus many less amazing but still fun games, like Borderlands, FEAR, STALKER, and so on. And many games will not run on this particular Mac, or this particular OS revision. I can't play Civilization V - text doesn't render. I can't play Portal 2 - graphics card is too weak. Same for Assassin's Creed 2, and many others. I would estimate maybe 10% of my games will run on this Mac. I would have better luck trying to play these games on my Wii. Programming is also problematic. Yes, the Unix base is nice, but gcc doesn't come pre-installed (at least not on any version I've installed), and XCode is now only available for OS 10.7. Since I'm not paying $30 to upgrade *just* so I can get a compiler environment, I can't do any low-level programming. And scripting stuff like PHP is doable on any system - I can, and have, written PHP on a Pentium II system. Video editing? I don't have much use for editing, so I'll leave that point uncontested (that's not saying "you're right", that's saying "I can't prove you wrong"). But I am trying to get better at 3D rendering, and guess what? Blender runs rather poorly on this system, and renders went faster on my old laptop. Just saying. And Internet? What does that even mean? I can browse the web on my phone. A 550MHz ARM chip. Perfectly fine for reading Slashdot, checking Facebook, and watching porn. In three separate tabs, if I so desire. I can do the same on my piece-of-crap, decade-old Athlon desktop. There's a port of Firefox to the fucking Commodore 64, for fuck's sake. Saying "Mac is good at internet" is only true in the same sense that "a Ford is good at driving" - you can wwebsite as on the internet just as well on virtually anything. I cannot name a single computer made in the past decade that cannot be used to browse the Internet. Oh, except iPhones not being able to run Flash. Kind of a point against them, there.
Nothing else can do this without crashing.
Hahahahaha. Ha. Ha. Man, have you actually *used* a Mac or are you one of those "don't actually have one but will fight for them anyways" types? This computer, this Mac Pro, has all kinds of problems. About half the time I wake it from sleep, the video doesn't cut on. Have to sleep/wake it again, sometimes several times, to get it usable. Programs crash. GMod is unstable as fuck. Several other games randomly CTD. Firefox still has the problems it has elsewhere, gradually slowing down and needing a restart. I think the best proof is this:
ganon-2:~ kdjansen$ uptime 17:51 up 13 days, 16 mins, 2 users, load averages: 0.44 0.63 0.60 ganon-2:~ kdjansen$ ssh nayru # nayru is my bsd dev box Password: $ uptime 17:51 up 198 days, 22 minutes, 3 users, load averages 0.12 0.76 0.45
And if I check my phone, I see an uptime of 314 hours, 12 minutes, or 13 days. And I've broken 1000 hours on it. So out of every computer I have functional right now, the *least* stable is the Mac.
I would of spent more than $10,000 because Apple deserves all my money, but my parents disagree.
First off, it's "would have", not "would of". Second, how does Apple "deserve" your money? What do they do with the money that makes it better than keeping it yourself? Nothing. They're a corporation. You give them money in exchange for a product.
Apple needs every single penny to make the best products ever.
No, they don't. The best products are made by the best people, and the best people are rarely motivated by money. Best counter-example to show you? Steve Job's annual salary was... a single penny. Plus a ton of expenses, stock options and the like, but actual, fungible cash? One hundredth of a dollar. The same goes for other great computer engineers. Carmack, Raymond, Torvalds, and so on. They don't want money. They want to make good stuff.
I don't care if there are Chinese people who get killed in Apple Factory explosions, they are expendable, and can be replaced with another Chinese thing.
You're either joking, or a psychopath. The former needs no argument, the other listens to none.
That is my opinion.
Translation: I know I'm wrong, but opinions by definition cannot be "wrong".
Hack, if you just want to say "People who buy macs never use them to their full potential", just say that. This thread was a bit of a waste.
The reason the iPhone doesn't have flash is because it's unoptimized, so it requires a lot of processor usage and memory, which in turn drains battery, not good for mobile devices
The reason the iPhone doesn't have flash is because it's unoptimized, so it requires a lot of processor usage and memory, which in turn drains battery, not good for mobile devices
Not going to argue there - even though I have flash on my phone, I leave it disabled unless there's something specific I need it for. Still, it's nice to have the option on occasion.
