I've decided to stop smoking weed for the fact that I think I'm developing schizophrenia I'm not sure if it's the weed or anything but I'm going to try and string this out and find out if I am indeed developing it. Now I'm not blaming the weed because I've also been staying up untill 4 AM every day then waking up at 2 PM. I'll still be around in DD though. I loved the times I'd be high and/or drunk as fuck trying to post it was a great challenge but for now I'm done smoking. whats weird is when I'm tired or high and get that head fuzz I close my eyes trying to go to sleep and thats when I hear things but it's only once and a very short sound. The sound sounds like a computerized sound. It is kinda freaking me out a little so I'm going to go to a psychiatrist. Another thing is my grandmother is the only one with schizophrenia so I may or may not have it.
Awwww, sad to hear bro :(
Uh oh I often have the same sleeping pattern as you :ohdear:
Also that sucks man I hope they rule out weed as a cause.
thanks guys I hope I'm not developing anything but i need to be sure
I'll miss your avatar :C

it's because i may be possibly becoming schizo but I need to string out the possibilities I'm going to start getting regular sleep and see if that's not the cause

it will I'm gonna still be around just I'm going to be sober
Wait, is the sound like a sort of distortion? Almost like a really tinny fan or motor? I get this a lot right before I fall asleep, and sometimes if I'm listening to music its like the same note keeps reverberating over and over again.
As far as I've researched this is something called Hynagogic hallucinations and is completely normal. Is this the only symptom you have?
Also, remember there are still no controlled studies showing a link to schizo.

Oh, no, by all means stop smoking. I'm not one of those people who's going to make people smoke, especially if they have personal reasons for it. Schizophrenia is serious shit, and if smoking weed causes those symptoms to be more pronounced, you should definitely quit. Personal health is far more important than getting ripped.
I'm just saying that it seems to me like a lot of members have decided, for one reason or another (all of which are valid), to go sober for a while. It saddens me a bit.

Yup, that sounds the same as me. This usually happens when I stay up really late, and am really tired, so I think you should take a break and change your sleep cycle and see how that goes.
Glad it sounds like things should be okay bro.

I'm really sorry man, my dick of a father's brother has it, and with my track history for mental illness I'm really afraid that I'll get it. It never bothered me until I turned to be the right age for it. I'm really sorry man, I hope your not getting it, it's some scary stuff.

I hope you don't get it either man
Damn, well I hope things work out for you man, and that it's not too serious. I should stop going to bed so late myself.
well my sleeping pattern is pretty fucked. I pretty much do the same (4am-4pm at times) and lately i have been going through all nighters and weirder patterns like 5am-8am then taking a 4 hour nap mod day. The only bad thing thats resulted from my sleep pattern was SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder. Where i pretty much (during winter) went to bed when the sun was coming up and woke up when the sun was coming down. I got mildly depressed and fixed my sleep pattern because it was scary how weird i felt.
Anyway, sleep effects everyone differently since our brains are different. So hopefully its not the weed or sleep causing it, if there is even schizo to begin with. People can have minor hallucinations but in your case im glad you've chosen to seek help. Good luck.

thanks I'm going to talk to them about the Hynagogic hallucinations this seems to be the case and not schizo because I've been smoking since i was 16 so about 2 years but when i was younger i had cases of schizo but It dissappeared and haven't had it since i guess it was a very mild case
everyone has to stop smoking at some point in their lives
I probably will soon
I disagree that everyone has to stop smoking at some point.
you drive till you die, and that's a habit.
yup
a necessity, that might kill.
you didn't just compare driving a car to smoking weed
That's fucking retarded
Because he was being 100 percent serious
jeez, I'd hope so
reppin' being able to smoke weed every day and manage psychosis
yo call me crazy but you might be jumping the gun on this schizophrenia thing. a break is good for anyone but what it probably comes down to is a lack of sleep. losing sleep definitely does this shit to you, its not good for you. i would just suggest developing a normal sleep schedule, force yourself to go to bed at around 11ish. also taking a break from weed can be a great thing, you should go for it if you really want to. im just not completely sure the whole schizophrenia thing is as likely as you think

your right on this I'm just thinking about my health I believe I was having that Hynagogic hallucinations it's not fun hearing shit
man i feel you. seems like you have the necessary drive going into this weed break, if i were you id definitely pursue it. weed in large quantities makes me tired and less aware, also less motivated. hope it works out for you brah

it will but with other members on this forum trying to piss me off which is working it's making it hard for me not to smoke
i agree that schizo is a very rare mental disease, and since its so debilitating, scary, and reletively famous because of the media people think its more common than it actually is. For example, since homicides and murders are documented heavily on news shows, people think murder is a common way of death. When asked to put together a list of what the most common killers of Americans, they score murder a lot higher than what it should be. Long story short, media panics the masses (big surprise there, i know).
But schizo is known to come out in young adults, early twenties. So since you have a history, go to the doctor anyway. Its silly for people to be afraid of seeing their doctor. Catching anything early gives you the best results.
