God dammit, now I want to play it again.
Still waiting for that open world RPG with dark messiah's combat system
dark messiah kicks some major ass
I remember buying this game back in 2008, it is amazing. A classic for sure.
I remember getting the Multiplayer side for free from a cd key website, and one day someone went "FUCK IT LET'S UPGRADE THIS SHIT TO FULL GAME" and SP appeared in my game library.
Aside from some serious lag issues in a couple of the levels of the game that can't be avoided if your hardware doesn't match up, it's a really good game.

We should get together and have a game of MP
Can't wait for "Have You Played... Half-Life?" or if we're going by more obscure games "... Return to Castle Wolfenstein?"
Other than the combat system the game really hasn't aged well.
So you're saying the only way the game holds up still...is the gameplay?
I can't really think of anybody who got this game back when it came out for anything but the combat. Plot was meh, and while it made pretty good use of source it was never a looker
I still every now and then, when I get the urge to, install it and do a playthrough.
I've done every ending, and gone down every skill path including mixes.
Fun fact, i met my first girlfriend on Dark Messiah MP, I was playing the Rogue and i kept backstabber her while she was playing mage, then she'd switch to the heavy melee dude so i'd switch to archer
We slung insults at eachother for 6 hours then added eachother to xfire.
Love that godamn game.

I would kick a baby for the next Elder Scrolls game to have Dark Messiah's combat.

I'm not sure I should hope for it then
I've owned the game for several plus years and I have yet to ever download and install it
I heard it was shit back in the day, and now I have no time to play it
I'm hoping that hellraid will have combat similar to dark messiah, and while it does have kicking I doubt it'll match up to DM
I wasn't expecting much from this game because I got it from some site that was linked here back in the day.
It's probably one of my favourite singleplayer games though. The gameplay is brilliant and I love the areas you explore.
This game is so much fun. I'd often reload a save just so I could go back and kill enemies a different way.
One of my favorite things to do is to coat the ground with ice so enemies slip on them, then reload and do it again.
What I really love about this game is that the enemies are actually good fighters. They don't rely on tanking and cheating, they'll actually break your guard, kick you into hazards, and dodge attacks
And i've looked so hard for that gif, of a player luring some enemy just around the corner, for the enemy to slip on a patch of ice, and blackflip over the fucking edge.
My favourite part of this game was being chased by orcs down some stairs, turning around once I lead them all to the bottom and running back to the top to kick them all back down again.
Also every time I play Skyrim or a similar open world game I wish I had the knowledge to add a kick into it. More game need kicks.
It's a good game, I'll say. I'm a bit mad I got permanently stuck somewhere because my pathfinding skills are garbage, but it's a good game. My major miff that may or may not have been fixed: I religiously play things in windowed mode so I can switch what I'm doing, use cheats, save on memory, etc. Dark Messiah has windowed mode inexplicably locked off.

This game was so much fun. Would be cool to get some kind of ENB for it.
would be amazing if they made a 2014 remake/imagining that got rid of the spider temple and replaced it with anything else
After my first playthrough I just started giving myself tons of antidote through the console v:v:v
The combat system in this game is truly amazing. The fights are intense and dynamic. Kicking around and using your environment to your advantage was always a joy, especially on higher difficulties.
Although the level design and story itself was pretty bad, fighting spiders all the time and crawling through the same boring temple was a bit annoying. I wished that they would have added different environments and stages to this game. I enjoyed the dialogues tremendously though and your demon companion was really well voiced, I loved her.
I feel like they could have done more with such a solid combat system, this game needs a sequel of some sorts.
As much as I love this stupid game, I paid $50 for it when it came out because I loved the demo so much. A year later, it was $10 on sale like once a month

Afraid of spiders?
Afraid of spiders?
It's not just them being big spiders
Their attacks apparently poison you each time you're hit, and the game only gives you so many antidotes up to that ponit that are treated like secret findables. And there's a lot of spiders. If you're not able to pick them off from a range, you're basically advised by most guides to run through like hell itself is on your heels.

If you had the fire sword thing at that point spiders were pretty easy.
I need to play this game. Ive only actually played the first couple levels, but i remember playing the demo several years ago and loving it.
