• US Treasury Department replacing Andrew Hamilton with unnamed woman on $10 bill in 2020
WASHINGTON — A woman will appear on the $10 bill beginning in 2020, the Treasury Department said Wednesday. Just which woman is up to you. Legally, the decision belongs to Jack Lew, but the Treasury secretary said he's seeking public input on which female historical figure should appear on U.S. paper currency for the first time in 119 years. "We're going to spend a lot of time this summer listening to people," Lew said. A decision could come this fall. But even then, it will take nearly five years for the new bill to see circulation. That's because of the intricate planning for a redesign that will incorporate new anti-counterfeit measures and tactile features for the blind.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2015/06/18/woman-on-10-bill-alexander-hamilton-jack-lew/28882687/
I vote for Mrs. Buttersworth.
Harriet Tubman
Who the fuck is Andrew Hamilton?
Who the fuck is Andrew Hamilton?
I don't know but my sandwich grill has the word Hamilton on it, maybe he has something to do with that
Would rather have seen Jackson get replaced seeing he was a bit shit and Hamilton was actually decent, but either way still a good thing overall.
Well I don't know where I got andrew from but oh well haha. If a mod would be so kind as to change it
Elenor Roosevelt
Hillary Clinton
Rule 63 M. Bison
No, no. The USS Enterprise. She definitely should be on the bill. 20 Battle Stars [thumb]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/USS_Enterprise_%28CV-6%29_in_Puget_Sound%2C_September_1945.jpg[/thumb] How fucking badass would a boat be on the bill like flying out at you spewing planes
How about lady liberty? She's an icon the country has had for along time and represents a lot more than just women.
Who the fuck is Andrew Hamilton?
Pretty sure he was the first treasurer of the United States. I assume he played a key role in setting it up.
Why replace on of the great figures, and one of the founding fathers, of the United States? I don't get it. [editline]17th June 2015[/editline]
Who the fuck is Andrew Hamilton?
Hamilton is the one responsible for the US having a federal government.
We should put the people who most contributed to the US. If that happens to be a woman, then great, but it seems odd to say that we want a woman just because they're a woman. Why not have a poll with anybody being a possibility, men or women, and if a woman wins then pick her?
I still think Frederick Douglass would be great on a bill, but from the looks of things I think we're going to be getting Harriet Tubman.
Why replace on of the great figures, and one of the founding fathers, of the United States? I don't get it.
Because we don't have any room to add a new bill, and the $2 and $50 bills don't see enough use.
Yeah, but who wants to have a woman who is more than 100 years old and weighs over 200 tons?
Real women have curves
By 2025 who will even use paper money anymore ? It would be better if they made a couple of 1 dollar golden/silver coins for collectors and stuff.
tactile features for the blind.
finally, US currency really needs these. The current system for blind people is that different denominations are folded in different ways but the problem is that it takes a long time for someone to fold all the bills in a wallet. The alternative results in the blind person being scammed.
Looks like I won't be using 10's in 2020. Because women are worth less if the patriarchy has taught me anything.
Hamilton is the one responsible for the US having a federal government.
That was Alexander Hamilton.
Looks like I won't be using 10's in 2020. Because women are worth less if the patriarchy has taught me anything.
Lol now our ten Dollar bill will be a $9.30 bill
By 2025 who will even use paper money anymore ? It would be better if they made a couple of 1 dollar golden/silver coins for collectors and stuff.
The vast majority of people will still use paper money because the government will still make paper money and issue it through banks. It's a lot cheaper than coins and a lot easier to carry around multiple denominations of. Ever tried to carry around $10 in change? You sound like you robbed a parking meter.
Lol now our ten Dollar bill will be a $9.30 bill
This guy gets it.
Do you really think we're going to transition to completely digital money in the next 10 years?
You shouldn't think of it 10 years ahead from now, but when it's used. It wont be a complete transition of course, but it will be far less relevant that it is now. Before you have credits cards and stuff, now you can use phones and watches, in 10-15 years who knows...
Need more Native Americans on your bills imo.

Andrew Hamilton was actually a pretty important guy. He was a lawyer who won the Zenger Case. He was basically the founding father of the Right to Free Press.
I'm surprised we're not replacing Andrew Jackson instead of Hamilton. Y'know with the Trail of Tears and all. Not exactly something you want in the resume of the guy whose face you see a few times every time you head to the ATM
