Still not worth it. Spent the full price on release, leveled to ~30 and abandoned it. Grindfest

That's the core of an MMO, is it not? To improve your skills and your gear. How do you do that? By killing things, completing quest and killing more things.
Still not worth it. Spent the full price on release, leveled to ~30 and abandoned it. Grindfest
Grindfest? The game's for me then! I've already spent more than 200 hours in Warframe, which is not an MMO, but it's pure grindfest at it's finest.
End game is boring as shit like most MMO's, but the only benefit of doing it is gear aesthetics, you can get gear with almost the same stats through gold. I have levelled a few characters up to max level though, it's especially fun with friends.
Still not worth it. Spent the full price on release, leveled to ~30 and abandoned it. Grindfest
Oh man, go play Vindictus and report back. Any wase. Leveling in GW2 is a great experience, best i've had in any MMO. But the end game is pretty much ass (though I haven't played since launch and I played for about 4 months after launch). I still think that out of all the MMO's i've played that GW2 has the best and most fair PVP system. Also it's a damn pretty game, i'd recommend picking it up.
name a single mmo that isnt a grindfest at heart
Saying the entire genre stinks is not exactly a point in favor of GW2, y'know. There's nothing at the core of "massively multiplayer" or "roleplaying" that necessitates grinding, it's just a progression model iterated so well that everything else has become a risk nobody wants to take for an investment as expensive as an MMO. Follow The Leader is already pretty paralyzing in the ridiculously huge AAA market in general, but MMOs especially are even less inclined to take risks because they are even more expensive than other genres.

You can't compare grinding in a fun tps with grinding in a bog standard-feeling mmorpg.
99% of games are grind by that logic since you kill quite a few things.
Archeage is a grind fest when it comes to gathering resources to get your ship constructed or whatever that you needed, grind can be fun as long as you have something else to entertain you while you work (music, teamspeak chat, etc). It helps kill the time and before you know it, you get what you wanted.
Is this game good? I've always wanted to try a proper MMO but never had the chance, always wanted to give WoW a chance but never felt like it.
Still not worth it. Spent the full price on release, leveled to ~30 and abandoned it. Grindfest
It takes like 24 hours of nonstop playing to hit the maxlevel. How is that a grind fest? Possibly even less time.
Is this game good? I've always wanted to try a proper MMO but never had the chance, always wanted to give WoW a chance but never felt like it.
i dont like it, but thats me. the game isn't bad, but its going to be pretty boring unless you have friends to play with.
i dont like it, but thats me. the game isn't bad, but its going to be pretty boring unless you have friends to play with.
none of my friends play mmo's, oh well. I was really looking forward to the game.
Guild wars is what got me into mmo's, it's great, and it's even more great for half the price! It gets pretty boring end game, that's where you want to join a pretty big guild (if you didn't already) unless you do that, the game gets really boring. Also making friends in GW2 is really easy.
none of my friends play mmo's, oh well. I was really looking forward to the game.
In those situations it's always good to make friends with people inside the game. Probably going to buy it this week.
Worth it, hundred of hours of fun.
Yep, I agree on it being worth it.
I was really hyped for this game, but couldn't purchase it at launch due to the lack of an internet connection so I missed that first golden month. Now my GPU is dead and I cannot take up this offer. Rest in peace 560 Ti.
arguably endgame is more about being a competent contributor in the world vs world sector, pvp being its own thing on the side. As always I advocate buying it because zero subscription to tie you down, and unless you're an idiot and just want to grind to levelcap for "endgame" content, you'll get way more than your money's worth out of it. There's no reason not to try it on a sale price if you're even vaguely curious [editline]e[/editline] I just realized they added a random reddit picture to the end of the article Anti-vax references made with guns! How fucking quaint PCGN
Shit, I have 300 hours and I still have fun just walking around talking to people. I know people with well over 1000 hours and they still find the fun. I'd say for this price it's worth it if you even have the vaguest interest in it.
Fun leveling, great exploration, beautiful art, but some of the worst endgame PVE out there at the moment. Can't say much on PVP though. Still, I can wholeheartedly recommend it, and at 50% off there's no reason I can give to not try it if you're remotely interested. It's a great journey with a very lackluster destination. And for me that was enough to get a real good time out of the game, but not enough to keep coming back. Thankfully the lack of subscription really helps. If it weren't for that fact that the endgame is so weak, I'd say it's one of the best MMOs out there, but as it is, it just falls short.
Got it last time it was on sale and believe me, it's worth every penny. One of the best one-time payment MMOs out there, maybe the best. I seriously do hope subscription fees die at some point, they're stupid.

Now is Dark Souls 2 for a month without rest.
I got more than my initial $60 purchase out of the game so I'd easily recommend it on sale but personally I have a lot of trouble coming back to it. The Living Story is cool but,as a PVE player at heart, it's missing hooks like WoW, Rift, EVE, and even SWTOR have where a patch will get me really excited and bring me back for a few weeks. That said though, probably the most solid combat system in an MMO yet combined with an absolute ton of content.
sPvP is now pretty decent since you actually get a steady stream of rewards and goodies for playing (outside of simply going up in rank) http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Structured_PvP#PvP_Reward_Tracks
I got around 1100 hours out of this game so far. I don't play it as much as I used to, but the game is still pretty great nonetheless. There's no sub fee and updates are very frequent so it doesn't hurt to try. That said if you really enjoy raiding-style content then you'll find a lack of it at "endgame". The game was built from the ground up to stand without forcing players to play hardcore for better gear and I'd say it mostly stands by that. The sacrifice is that it lacks what most MMO players would call endgame content. The game still has a ton of dungeons and PVE content to fill that hole.
The main problem is deciding between dark souls 2 and guild wars 2 i can only afford one and they cost about the same here.
