So my parents and friends updated Windows with the latest update and they are telling me that Windows itself starts up but you can't open programs like Explorer and Internet Explorer. The weird thing is though, that the programs are actually running in the background and the programs seem to be invisible. Since I have no access to any of those computers I can't really tell much more, but I can check if I'm allowed to go to their computers some time later.
Is anyone else having such problem too? Is there any way of fixing it (aside from using the Windows installation disk)?
My Dads computer is fine, can you open Task Manager using ctrl alt delete or ctrl shift esc, if you can, check explorer.exe is in the processes list. If not, go to the first tab and click new task and type explorer.exe
If its already there, open command prompt and type sfc /scannow this will check for broken Windows files and attempt to fix them
