The 15-year-old, known as Wati, was eight when the giant wave hit her village of Ujong Baroh, in West Aceh, on Boxing Day in 2004. It is believed the youngster was swept away in the rushing waters after being separated from her mother, Yusniar, and two siblings as they ran for safety. The family survived but were forced to face the prospect that their daughter was dead. But on Wednesday, the teenager turned up in her home village after being missing for seven years, according to Antara News. The agency reports that the girl was mistaken for a beggar after she appeared in a local coffee shop and sat in silence. She reportedly told workers at the Simpang Pelor café that she had been trying to get home but couldn’t remember her relative’s names, except that of her grandfather Ibrahim. The child was then taken to her grandfather’s house where he soon recognised his long-lost granddaughter. Her mother and father Yusuf are believed to have confirmed Wati’s identity after spotting a small scar above her eyebrow that she got when she was six. Antara reports that the events of Wati’s seven-year ordeal were not disclosed to the media although it is believed she had wandered all over the Aceh district in Indonesia.
This is amazing.

This is so uncanny that Giorgia Tsoukalos is not entirely sure if it indeed was aliens.
Amazing.
Determination like none other.

I'm actually confused, it doesn't really say...but was she 15 when the tsunami hit, or is she 15 now, when she's just got home?
Why did it need to mention it happened during boxing day...

What did she survive on? I wonder how she ate and drank for all that time with no money. Very brave.

What the sweet flippy fuck of fuckville, that's awesome.
How do you not remember your parents names?
That sounds like hell of a story! Actually, if I didn't know, I would sorta expect it to be backstory of some fairytale, anime, or something.
Woah shit. Thats hardcore.
That's right, kids. This woman just proved why you never give up.
How do you not remember your parents names?
Amnesia. It's likely she hit her head on some debris when she was swept away and got a concussion, causing the amnesia. Fucking amazing story.

Holy crap. 7 years. That's one powerful tsunami.
Not to mention I barely remember jack shit from my age of 8.
I really don't remember all too much past like... four days ago.
Now for a tasteless Hollywood movie based loosely upon the events!
I'm so confused... How did the tsunami get her so far away that she had no idea where she was and could fill up 7 years worth of searching? Secondly, this might sound silly but have you seen Indonesia? It's not a very big country relatively. I just don't understand/ believe that she was really searching for all that time.
inb4 Disney movie about it.
Now for a tasteless Hollywood movie based loosely upon the events!
FUCK
She was freaking 8 years old.
Even for an 8 year old, surely it wouldn't have taken her 7 years to find a town or something and ask for help?
