Last night, I was chatting when all of a sudden Steam closed without any dialogues or any sign of why it just closed suddenly, and from then every time I try to launch Steam it closes in about 10 seconds.
- Only happens on desktop comp, works perfectly on laptop with same account.
- Reinstalled Steam, backed up but didn't replace new files with old ones. Still occurs. (note relevant, but the Steam folder is 130 GB)
- Not in Task Manager.
Start > Run > Services.msc
Look for the Steam Client Service; is it running?
It's in there, so I selected 'Start the service' and received this:

Try this:
Start > Run > CMD > C:\YOURPATHTOSTEAMSERVICE\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe /repair
For example, mine looks like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe
Ran it fully with /repair, didn't fix the issue. :/
If you're sure it's not in the process list, bossibly something is blocking it? Firewall?
I left off quotes:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe" /repair

Steam and all of it's games are in Exceptions, and I doubt after 15 months Win Firewall would just suddenly block it.
Restarted comp, which fixed nothing.
Each time I run Steam it creates an MDMP file which Visual C++ wants to open, however they seem blank.
