Suggest me something please. Seems that zonealarm turned into garbage with 15 days trial.
Windows Firewall has been "good enough" for a wee while, though I think the XP one is gimped or something (and the Vista one less gimped)
I Like Comodo It stays out the way and does what it's meant to. Integrated AV and Defense system too.
I use smart security v4.
Windows Firewall
Suggest me something please. I'd also recommend Comodo, though it's also annoying at times (but not to the point of "are you really REALLY sure you want to allow this?" like ZA). Of course if you're on 7 then AFAIK there aren't any good free firewalls, and they're not really necessary anyway. Just stick with Windows Firewall.
Search Free Firewalls on Google and see what you get!!

COMODO is pretty good, just turn the annoying alerts off. But if you've got a router you should be fine.
Windows Firewall
Trying to be funny?
Comodo is good, but when I used it it used different lingo for stuff.
Trying to be funny?
not really.
Comodo is good. If you're willing to pay, I recommend the ESET Security Suite. Pretty much the best rated Antivirus combined with a nice firewall. I'm running it now on 64-bit Windows 7, and it's great.
I built a hardware firewall using IP Cop and an old 466MHz celeron system with 64MB RAM. Zero annoying pop-ups.
ur brain
Windows Vista or 7 firewall does the job, but make sure you have really good AV.
I use PC Tools Firewall Plus, its pretty good.... BUMP
Malwarebyte's Anti Malware comes with a very good firewall, as does avast.
All that extra crap just uses up resources needlessly. Windows firewall is fine.
Definately AVG. It is very easy to use, PLUS has never failed to protect my computer. HERE
Microsoft Security Essentials
All that extra crap just uses up resources needlessly. Windows firewall is fine.
Do you know why it doesn't use resources? Because it's pretty much useless. I've had programs pop-up asking me to enable the exception, but until I clicked disallow, it would let communications through. Comodo is much better and actually works.
Just use the one built into your router.
Just use the one built into your router.
The one in my router is shit.
Zonealarm is the best free firewall.
The one in my router is shit.
What a firewall does it close the ports off and open the ones you want with port forwarding. Doing this job badly is impossible.
What a firewall does it close the ports off and open the ones you want with port forwarding. Doing this job badly is impossible.
That's not the only thing a firewall does, especially when it comes down to routers. But for most software firewall, that description is pretty accurate.
