I'm looking for a laptop that would be good in thethings like music, movies, photoshop, light gaming, and internet browsing.
I can spend around $500 to $600 tops on it and I would prefer a laptop that would last long with a decent sized screen.

I'm thinking about getting one of these two, please tell me if that is a good choice or not

I'm partial to Lenovo.

Although I have a feeling these will always be on sale for one reason or another, you never know how long they'll be within your price range.

As am I, but Acer Aspires are also very nice for budget laptops. I would recommend looking into Lenovo Ideapads, Thinkpad Edges, and Acer Aspires.
what do you guys think of this deal?

HP gets pretty hot and easily collects dust. If you open it, you would need to open it quite a bit.
Alright its between

im not very good with the specs and shit so which one do you think would be the best?
Funny, I just happened to get one of those recently: http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V3-571G-6407-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B009JXK1WQ/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1369717729&sr=1-20&keywords=laptops
So far it's pretty good. It has a nice keyboard and battery life, but I don't like the gloss so much.
Haven't had too much time to test it out, so if you have a question/want me to try and run a game just ask.
Don't buy an Acer product. Please.
Some more reliable brands are: Asus, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Sony.
Acer customer service sucks. My laptop had a glitchy wifi card and they barely tested it and sent it back. Got mad so i went to repair it myself.
Avoid Acer hardware at all costs. Their computers are awful. Look at Lenovo, ASUS, or even Dell. Never had experience with Samsung, Sony, or MSI laptops so I cannot vouch for them.
Avoid HP/Compaq too. Pieces of crap.
HP laptops aren't all that bad
I had a DV7 somethingorother and it was a great laptop, had even had a little sub thingy that punched the table instead of your normal crappy laptop speakers
Is this pretty good for the price?

I kind of hijacked this thread but I don't really want to make a new one if there is already one for the topic

Sony's low end laptops (aka the OP's price range) aren't worth touching. Plastic glossy shite.
Their high end models on the other hand are some of the best on the market. The S series makes apple look like a bunch of jokers, by putting the power of a macbook pro in something not much bigger or heavier than a macbook air.
It's a real pity they discontinued the Z series. With a few tweaks and a bit more advertising, it could have dominated the market. Truly an incredible piece of kit, there never has and probably never will be a laptop quite like it.
Sorry for deviating from the topic a bit, just putting this shit out there
