WHAT IS ELECTRO-INDUSTRIAL MUSIC?
The short answer that I like to reply with is "Give heavy metal a dance beat."
But the term Electro-Industrial refers to two genres of music that are closely correlated in style and encompasses a much broader scope of sub-genres. Generally speaking, Industrial music was a synthesis of heavy metal-inspired music that used electronic overtones. The beats are often harsh, loud, and angry. To quote the wiki, industrial music is a "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music."
Electro is the other end of the spectrum which relies more on synthesizers and music programming. This is the side that produces more club inspired dance tracks. Use of actual instruments is minimal and in most cases Mac laptops are in abundance. A lot of Electro is difficult to distinguish from normal techno and D&B. The most simple way of telling the difference is that Electro has heavier beats and, if lyrics are present, they tend to be a bit dark and melancholy. Naturally, like all other forms of music, it's difficult to apply one definition to all bands of that genre.
As for the music itself...

Some decidedly old-school bands would also include Project Pitchfork, 16volt, Wolfsheim and X Marks the Pedwalk.
The genre "EBM" (electro-body music) is relevant. I'm looking for more synthpop-y EBM artists if you guys can name any good ones.
Apoptygma Berzerk, Wolfsheim, Ashbury Heights are really corny :( and I don't know if "heavy metal with a dance beat" is accurate. But idk.

Like I said, more recommendations should be posted. And nice links :)
give "AndOne" a listen. They're the epitome of EBM. Lot of their stuff varies between pop and pure EBM. A lot of Covenant's stuff is pretty EBM as well.

Yes, they're legendary. Especially the Bodypop 1 1/2 disc
Do you like harsh EBM?
If this thread is for electro-industrial with metal, then I have some bands for you:
Neurotech - Antagonist

SeeCreeS - Two Sides of Me

Seth.ECT - B.L.A.S.T.

I have various other metal bands that use keyboards heavily, but I don't consider those really cyber metal unless they have the signature "dance beat" thing going on.

myself no, I prefer stuff like vnv nation, covenant, and one, seabound, rotersand, mind.in.a.box, wolfsheim, ashbury heights, etc. The harshest of EBM I'd listen to is Laibach. It's kind of a shame for myself, because it seems like the most popular stuff nowadays in the scene is the harsh ebm and electro.
Hell, I prefer even self-parodying crypto-Fascist industrial like this over a lot of the Harsh acts.

I think I'll look into Nachtmahr. I kind of thought that I had found any band that was worth listening to. Or that I reached a dead end. I dunno.
Yeah, I know that feeling. It's such a small genre, theres just not much out there to listen to once you have narrowed down what you want. There's lots of EBM artists I haven't properly listened to, but I can decide very quickly if I'm going to check them out or not after listening a song or two. The difference between something like Suicide Commando and Wolfsheim is just ridiculously enormous, yet both groups still somehow can be brought up in a conversation about EBM.
I think I like what you've posted, It reminds me of Seabound. (then I realized the vocalist is the same:v:)

@pg, This is not necessarily electro-industrial or whatever, but you like Gary Numan or Camouflage? Lots of syhnthpop-y stuff was mentioned here, so maybe you'd like them.

naw, I'm not into it. I like some De/Vision though.

@tfwo
I've never been into angelspit, since it's harsh ebm. But It's a shame those guys are touring with "BloodOnTheDanceFloor" atm :pwn:
@ tfwo you didn't include "Vena Cava" :o
@TWFO, is your name a reference to the song? I've never really heard it used anywhere else.
