• (Completely over-ambitious) Isaac Hayes collaboration cover - Run Fay Run

So guys! I had an idea. It's something I've always wanted to do and whilst I appreciate it's maybe not as easy as I probably hope, if it came through it would be completely awesome. after seeing Chainz45's thread - a complete cover of In A House - In A Heartbeat (28 Days Later) (which is fantastic by the way, make sure you give it a listen) it reminded me of how i've always wanted to cover Isaac Hayes' Run Fay Run. For those of you not familiar with the track here it is: View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=pkX5eFTE3bc My basic idea is to grab a bunch of facepunchers, each assigned an instrument, who can record themselves playing their part of the song, and then we can send it to some video extraordinaire who can compile it all together and give us a pretty darned awesome collaborative cover, by our very own members! I don't know how easy it would be to do this although at the moment my basic process thoughts are:

Find people who want to be involved
Suitably assign people instruments
People record their own part in their own time with their own 'equipment' (we're not going for an HD super-duper quality thing here, but half decent sound quality is expected). OH, and you're expected to star in the video.
So long as people are recording whilst listening to the music (be it through headphones or quiet speakers) then we shouldn't have a problem with people being out of time
Somebody magics it together and BAM, amazing
So, is anybody even remotely interested? I also realise that there's a couple of parts where there's more than just a lone musician (the brass seems like there's at least a couple of people playing) but since we're not after an exact cover it doesn't matter at all! This just seems like a good way to get some members together for a good time. Oh, and if you want to partake it's probably best if you have a moderately musical background. There are a couple of percussion 'slots' but you'd need to be able to keep time well, and that normally comes with other musical knowledge. So far I think the instruments I can recognise in order:

Maracas/shakers
Tambourine
Drums - I'm not sure what type of drums these are if anyone could identify it would be greatly appreciated
Bongo?
Guitar (distorted)
Bass
Trumpet/cornet - my brass knowledge isn't great!
Then at about 1.30 I start to struggle. Sometimes it sounds like there's a nasaly flute in the background somewhere, there's also some strings and horns. But since we're going for a rough cover it doesn't matter if we don't get it perfect! So yeah, what does Facepunch think?
Successful thread is successful. 'Drums' just sounds like a very loosely tuned standard kit to me. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] Sorry for making you excited for getting a reply. [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] Also, bit of French horn in there I think.
:saddowns:
It might be a better idea to start with a simpler song with more common instruments to see how well it works.
this is very true. do you have any suggestions?
A simpler song is a better first project, with more common instruments and preferably correct tabs(guitar pro would be a plus for keeping everyone in the same rhythm but not needed)
