Cue everybody shitting themselves because it's FFVII.
Not on Steam 0/10 wouldn't buy
It's been out on PC since 1998
It's been out on PC since 1998
And if I remember correctly it was broken unless you used third party patches.
Cue everybody shitting themselves because it's FFVII.
Despite it's overpopularity, iffy translation and so-so dialogue, I've found few games with such memorable locations and music.
Mostly worth buying for nostalgia reasons. But since it's not on Steam I'm not going to bother.
I figure that if you haven't played through it before, the $10 is probably worth it. I've already seen what the game had to offer back in the day. The gameplay, dialogue, and story are all old to me now, although the music is still nice (but that doesn't require playing through the game to hear).
It's a shame that they did not bother to put the PSX music in.
It's a shame that they did not bother to put the PSX music in.
Yeah, that actually makes it a no-buy for me, the music is very important imo.
Australians can't buy it from the EU store because EU only there, and we can't buy it from the NA store because Australia doesn't exist in the drop down country selection. :(
I find it funny that they took the trouble of converting their old midi shit to ogg instead of using the good psx soundtrack
Wait, then whats this FFVII that's sitting on my external Hard Drive. Works fine for me, what's new in this version?
I suggest reading the article.

achievements, cloud saves, and a character booster
Yeah I read that, but those aren't really added to the game, cloud saves are cool, Achievements are unneeded and I don't really get what a character booster is. Did they upgrade anything else?

The old one has some bad compatibly issues with today's hardware and device drivers.
I don't know, buy or not buy? The only FF games I've played are FF13 and some FF7 spinoff that was a third person shooter. So I don't have any idea what to expect.

the very fact that they used the shitty .midi music makes this not even worth the purchase
I'm not seeing what is so bad about MIDI. To be honest I like MIDIs. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline] Also, couldn't we replace soundfiles to replace the music in this with the old music?
because it sounds like total shit when compared to the ps1 soundtrack?? [editline]15th August 2012[/editline]
I'm not seeing what is so bad about MIDI. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline] Also, couldn't we replace soundfiles to replace the music in this with the old music?
i think the question you should be asking is why they didn't just do this in the first place
i think the question you should be asking is why they didn't just do this in the first place
The same could be said for any game with a flaw in it. I'm willing to look past a said flaw if I can fix it with modding. As long as it isn't hardcoded that is.
then by all means buy it! i'm not trying to stop you go ahead
Although I did hear that this version uses Securom.
Also, couldn't we replace soundfiles to replace the music in this with the old music?
I don't see why not. Should be possible.
I don't see why not. Should be possible.
Honestly, this is the big issue for me; Character Booster's neat and all, but if we can't mod or change the music to what it originally was (or even mod it at all) due to DRM or otherwise, then it's a no-sell. If I wanted to play the original, I could easily emulate it off of the original PS1 disks. Giving a small amount of money to Square would be fine if the product isn't locked down tighter than a chasity belt, so i'll have to wait it out and see what the people find.
