So, heres a song I wrote in Guitar Pro 6 today: I would REALLY appreciate constructive criticism! And as mentioned in the title, do you think this tone sounds better? Shibbey does, so I decided to ask you.
Cool music. I believe this song subliminally influenced you to make the first one.
You know, as much shit as Three Days Grace gets, and as much as I don't like their work in general, Get Out Alive is actually a song of theirs I enjoy. And I have to ask, Hakita. What soundfonts do you use for your MIDI? Because the drums and piano sound great. Guitar doesn't sound too bad either. I can't tell much of a difference between the two versions you posted, though, in the guitar.

Also, I use Guitar Pro 6, which has some really good RSEs. Plus you can tweak every little thing about every little instrument until it sounds perfect to you.
Cool music. And even then I only listened to the song a few times, but the possibility exists.
I think the tone sounds like shit, sorry. RSE is godawful and you really shouldn't be using it, it has this certain 'quality' to it that just ruins it all. You want it to sound real? Get musicians to play what you've recorded. There's no reverb in the guitar, there's no resonance that clings out as each chord is struck ; only an empty tone that corrupts everything that touches it. The drums, I sort of like, they remind me a lot of Napalm Death and their sound they had on their earlier tracks, and unlike the guitar, they have this reverb that sounds like it's actual drums, and not some cheap midi tone. Obviously, the drums still sound bad, but they sound passable in relation to the guitar. You want more distortion on the guitar and a slight touch of reverb, you could also try and raise the higher frequencies on the guitar too, maybe a small boost in the lower frequencies too.

I use the RSE because I really feel like most people would enjoy it over the normal MIDI sound. Heres my try at boosting the frequencies and adding reverb: I myself don't think it sounds good, but eh.
Yeah, much worse. You might wanna HP-filter the guitar. It gets really muddy down there. But it's hard. Distortion guitar is probably the most difficult instrument to synthesize. It just won't sound good unless you record it.
