After 18 months in Choucha camp on the Tunisia-Libya border "195 refugees will be able to leave this Monday, September 3, for Germany to start a new life," it said in a joint statement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Six other refugees will join the others in Germany later as they were "forced to postpone their trip for medical reasons," said a source. The refugees are from Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia and were in Libya when the conflict that led to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime erupted in early 2011. The camp in Tunisia currently houses some 2,200 refugees.
Considering the conflict is over... Can't they just go back to Libya now?
Considering the conflict is over... Can't they just go back to Libya now?
could be quite a few who can't go back to due to results of the conflict, or who have lost too much that they would rather start a new life than go back to their old one
They may not have any reason to go back, they're not from Libya and their job is gone by now, they'd rather try their chances elsewhere than in a country that's rebuilding after a war
Considering the conflict is over... Can't they just go back to Libya now?
It's going to be a while until Libya gets their shit together anyway. The infrastructure is in ruins and there is still some ongoing factional fighting.
Well, at least Germany gets a bit of Libyan culture added to the "cooking pot of culture" out there in Germany; I wonder if any of them're gonna settle in Munich? Hearts goin' out to the refugees.
I hope the german people treat them with respect.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with neither refugees nor immigrants. Some of the comments on different news websites are atrocious.
I guess the only bad thing is the strain on infrastructure if you've got fuckloads pouring across a border. This is only 200 though so I doubt anything bad could happen.
I hope the german people treat them with respect.
The Germans are very accepting of other races and middle easterners are practically integrated into their culture now.
The Germans are very accepting of other races and middle easterners are practically integrated into their culture now.
I just don't want people to blame immigrants for everything. Almost every country is doing it now.
Can't they just go back to Libya now?
There are reports of anti-Black racism there ever since the revolution.
I wouldn't really be surprised if there are 'prejudiced' people in Germany, out of all countries. *cough* Ex-Nazi Germany. Anyway I'm sure these refugees will have a good time in Germany, I implied nothing otherwise with the above.
i hope they treat german people with respect
How about everyone treats each other with respect?

Does that need to be brought up in every single thread about Germany?
I really bet they will try to stuff their culture and religion down germans throat like nearly all the turkish people here in germany do. I rather have these rebels in germany than the turkish that are born here and act like germany is a shit country. For me that's the only problem about people from these kuran country's.

Oh if only Hitler could see Germany now...
Got nothing against immigrants and such as long as they treat that sort of asylum with respect. Some waltz in there, aren't willing to integrate. Over in Cologne we had a case of a school class with only two Germans, and the rest being foreigners bullying the German kids simply for being German. Of course there are awesome people from these countries as well that add a lot to their host countries, but I deeply despise people getting accepted into another country only to give their hosts no respect whatsoever or even turn to crime.
