The fan — whose name is not yet available — was trying to catch a foul ball flipped to him by Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton when he fell over a railing and tumbled 20 feet behind the left field wall, according to ESPN Dallas
The story in video form: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6748752 What people on TV saw. Player/fans/announcer reactions (video inside the link): http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/watch-a-rangers-fan-go-tumbling-over-the-outfield-fence/ Fan reaction: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6748073 The crazy thing is that the whole thing looks so innocent, it's not like the fan was reaching out way too much, and it's not like he [the fan] jumped off. I feel so bad for his kid son though.
Oh jesus, I would hate to be the son of that guy... You would be remembered for the rest of your life as "the son of the dude who tried to catch a ball and died" and no matter how smart your dad would of been he would always be remembered as a retard
Damn... :(
Lawsuit for negligence. This is one of the cases where a lawsuit is legitimate, because that kid is without a father, which has some pretty significant financial and emotional ramifications. I mean, if the railing wasn't there, or there was a sign saying "oi dickheads don't lean over the railing because you'll fall over and die", or the railing was high enough that the reasonable and predictable act of trying to catch a ball would not result in a person going over, I wouldn't support a lawsuit. But that's not the case.
The incident comes one year and one day after a fan fell 30 feet from the Rangers Ballpark second deck during a Rangers-Indians matchup. That was only weeks after a fan died due to a 14-foot fall over a railing at Miller Park in Milwaukee
I personally would've assumed that places would maybe increase safety seeing as it doesn't seem to be a one off type thing.
they should line the areas underneath the walls with bouncy castles to prevent this in the future
they should line the areas underneath the walls with bouncy castles to prevent this in the future
This is the best way to address the problem, in my professional opinion
I personally would've assumed that places would maybe increase safety seeing as it doesn't seem to be a one off type thing.
The crazy thing is that the fan that just died was a fire man, and the other fan that fell a year ago was also a fire man.
The crazy thing is that the fan that just died was a fire man, and the other fan that fell a year ago was also a fire man.
it's no coincidence
It didn't even look like he would fall really and then suddenly bam he suddenly fell down
You would be remembered for the rest of your life as "the son of the dude who tried to catch a ball and died" and no matter how smart your dad would of been he would always be remembered as a retard
This is a retarded statement in itself.
if people actually watched the video he wasn't even in an abnormal position
It's not an unreasonable thing to occur. This is one of the cases where a lawsuit is legitimate, because that kid is without a father, which has some pretty significant financial and emotional ramifications.
god those announcers suck they laughed at him and said "just for a baseball"
god those announcers suck they laughed at him and said "just for a baseball"
they did?what dicks
I bet those announcers feel bad for chuckling now.
Lawsuit for negligence.
i thought baseball fields had this covered when you buy the ticket or something.
i thought baseball fields had this covered when you buy the ticket or something.
Yeah I think it's on the back of your ticket. Like for instance a ball hits you on the head, or a shattered bat or something, you can't sue if it took your eye out or gave you a concussion.
Lawsuit for negligence.
Who are they gonna sue? Angular momentum?
god those announcers suck they laughed at him and said "just for a baseball"
Well, to be fair, I don't think they knew he died at the time.
Who are they gonna sue? Angular momentum?
Because they owed a duty of care to him for it to be at least somehow difficult to fly off if he was to try to catch a ball (which is not unreasonable). Not like it's much skin off the stadium's back.
oh dear.
Who are they gonna sue? Angular momentum? Well, to be fair, I don't think they knew he died at the time.
I wouldn't even joke about it because he doesn't even look like he was doing anything extreme he was putting his hand there suddenly some shitty Star Wars prequel force pulled him to the ground
george bush was at the game, i wouldn't blame anyone for intentionally killing themselves there, this is sad though.
Or he could act like he wasn't completely stupid and NOT LEAN OVER A RAILING.
lol have you ever been at a baseball game?
lol have you ever been at a baseball game?
Yes, but that has absolutely nothing to do with it. That's like saying when a guy falls to his death off of a bridge "Have you ever driven over a bridge". There are rails for a reason, you don't hang over them. Why people are stupid enough to do that is beyond me, but at least they're nice enough to remove themselves from the gene pool.
Seeing as there was the scoreboard in front of the stands right there, there should be no reason why there isn't a net right there (between the scoreboard and the wall). That way he may have fallen just a few feet before the net caught him.
Yes. That's like saying when a guy falls to his death off of a bridge "Have you ever driven over a bridge". There are rails for a reason, you don't hang over them. I kinda blame Josh Hamilton for throwing it to the guy on the front row, at least throw it to the 3rd row so the guy in the 1st row reaches back versus forward. Also another foot of railing can't hurt.. or at least a castle bounce under the thing instead of concrete.
Those damn low railings. Whenever I go to a stadium I always worry about falling because I'm 6 feet tall and the railings barely reach my waist.
yeah I've never seen railings that low. they should be held responsible
