Hi, About 5 weeks ago i built my new PC, and quite often it freezes on TF2 even just on the menu. It also freezes in a variety of other games/applications.
Im Running Windows 7 and my PC specs are:
3.0 GHz AMD Quad Core Processor
4 GB RAM
GTX 275 nVidia Graphics Card
With a Large Case
I was hoping that someone out there in the magical world of the internet could suggest why its freezing, and how to stop it, I will be forever grateful for any replies,
TheOrangeMonkey :D
I'd guess that something is overheating. If the screen goes black then it's usually the graphics card. Download CPU-Z and see what temps you get doing stuff. You should set it to graph or whatever (It's been a while since I used it) and let it idle for 5 mins, play TF2 for 5 mins and do something else for 5 mins, post that here or wait for some better advice :)
Pull a blanket over it, make some hot cocoa, and snuggle with it in front of the fireplace. Should warm it up nicely.

Because heating it up solves overheating

Mine tried it but it didn't like it.
Haha thanks for the replies, i wont be trying the 'Pull a blanket over it, make some hot cocoa, and snuggle with it in front of the fireplace. Should warm it up nicely.' Method sorry. xD Well the screen doesnt go black, and i notice no FPS change when it happens which i thought i would if it were getting hot. Plus the air coming out the PC is cool :S
Try taking out some Ram, testing it with individual ones.
hit it with a hammer
tell me what new programs u have installed
try system restore
be more specific with your problem
get a fan control program then put it up high, or get a better fan.
memory leak?
I havent Got many Programs installed, Just the Basics, Mozzilla, MSN, Steam. Im careful with file downloads so i dont think it would be a virus. Hmm its really puzzling me xD thank you all for your suggestions :)
maybe you need more ram?
Is 4GB not enough :S?
maybe you need more ram?
4GB is plenty, and anything will run smoothly with that.
hit it with a hammer
Who are you, Jeremy Clarkson?
xD yeah i was pretty sure it was enough. Hitting it with a hammer is indeed something Jeremy Clarkson would do.
Overheating sounds like the cause. Upgrade your fan, or increase the speed if you can.
Cheers :) well my case can take two more fans at the side of the case, so i'll Buy a couple of them.
I still think you should download and use CPU-Z and get some readings when you're playing games.
Okay :)
Any luck?
