What was the first game with a fully functioning server browser built-in to the game itself rather than being external or using ip addresses?
I know UT99 had one built-in, and it still works perfectly but I'm sure there were others before it.
Diablo and other games of that era according to Wikipedia would be your best shot.
I think it was quake?

nah, Quake had an adress bar and a local server list, but not an actual internal online server browser. I know Quake 3 was the first Quake game to have one, but that was after UT.
I guess Diablo 1 on battle.net was probably 1 of the first then.
