Fucking dicks why? It had nothing to do with Star Wars anymore
Fucking dicks why? It had nothing to do with Star Wars anymore
well thats what they are doing, they are still releasing the game its just not going to be a star wars game anymore. tbh, if people thought this would pass as a star wars game anyway they were being a bit wishful knowing ea. you could say this went better than anyone would have expected considering they were actually granted a meeting with lucasarts that seemed to be pretty productive for them
Lucasfilm handled this perfectly
Fucking dicks why? It had nothing to do with Star Wars anymore
It had plenty of Star Wars licensed assets in therefore they should have expected this as I'm sure many MANY people have told them but they didn't listen. Just because they made the models/whatever themselves doesn't matter it's still using the likeness of copyrighted materials therefore they have every right to do this. Not to mention they didn't say they were stopping just that they weren't going to use star wars stuff which arguably should have been the idea since day 1.
Fucking dicks why? It had nothing to do with Star Wars anymore
Probably because it's actually good and DICE's next game is likely gonna be named "Battlefront 2" to exploit people looking for the Pandemic game.
The game's still getting made, it's just not going to be a Star Wars game. Nothing to be alarmed about.
People need to get it through their heads that you can't make a commercial product using someone else's IP.
Probably because it's actually good and DICE's next game is likely gonna be named "Battlefront 2" to exploit people looking for the Pandemic game.
Or maybe because it's infringing on their IPs lol, they're not killing the project because it's "good" and theirs is bad (nobody at EA is saying "AW SHIT SOMEONE'S MAKING A GOOD BATTLEFRONT, SHUT IT DOWN") and they're not ~exploiting~ (hahaha holy shit) people looking for the pandemic game by numbering a sequel
they're not ~exploiting~ (hahaha holy shit) people looking for the pandemic game by numbering a sequel
Well, the name "Battlefront 2" is already taken, so i imagine they'd have to pick a different name so as to avoid ambiguity in search engine queries.
Well, the name "Battlefront 2" is already taken, so i imagine they'd have to pick a different name so as to avoid ambiguity in search engine queries.
Not really, I mean it isn't like companies are naming all these remakes just titled "Robocop" or "Battlefront" or anything differently It isn't really a problem anyway, if people want to look for the Pandemic BF2 they'll just google it specifically.
Well, the name "Battlefront 2" is already taken, so i imagine they'd have to pick a different name so as to avoid ambiguity in search engine queries.
Here's the best example I have for you right now. Prey. [t]http://i.imgur.com/HQ7A6Ne.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/tPA88AJ.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/TJEl2a3.png[/t] And we'll even throw in the Prey 2 that I was hoping we'd get, but instead we got a garbage reboot. [t]http://i.imgur.com/FN3eKvN.png[/t] Granted that Prey 2 links to the now "Prey 2" Wikipedia page since Human Head is no longer the dev.
Well, the name "Battlefront 2" is already taken, so i imagine they'd have to pick a different name so as to avoid ambiguity in search engine queries.
Didn't stop them with Battlefront 2015. Odds are, it'll be Battlefront 2: Subtitle.
Soo... they were trying to actually sell the thing? Thats not very smart by any means
Soo... they were trying to actually sell the thing? Thats not very smart by any means
Actually, i thought they announced that it'd be free forever.
Soo... they were trying to actually sell the thing? Thats not very smart by any means
AFAIK it was going to be free.
I saw this coming a mile away
Companies need to stop forcing this exclusive contract stuff.
Companies need to stop forcing this exclusive contract stuff.
They were using the IP without permission. Plus EA's thing isn't 100% exclusive. They didn't make/publish Lego Star Wars They might be the only company who can make games of specific genres.
Honestly don't know what they expected. They actually claimed "fair use" and thought that'd cover their asses.
Yeah AFAIK Fair Use doesn't cover thist sort of thing.

They pushed it off like it was nothing as well.
trying to develop and release a game with another company's IP without licensing is just a giant gray zone if it were me i'd expect a c&d at any time after putting it out there for everyone to see
