Fire TV is not a barebones device like the Chromecast, it's a powerful Android-driven platform with ties to the broader Amazon ecosystem. Inside the slim black plastic box is a quad-core CPU with a full 2GB of RAM -- that makes it more akin to a high-end smartphone than your typical streaming device. And its incredibly slim, shorter than a dime
you can even play candy crush and other pleb games that clog up the android app store on this device http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/02/amazon-announces-android-powered-streaming-stick/ http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/02/amazon-fire-tv-game-controller/
So... It's an OUYA with TV streaming capabilities? Fantastic! Just what we needed.
Are they getting rid of Amazon Prime Instant then?
can I play OpenTTD on it?
Are they getting rid of Amazon Prime Instant then?
Doubt it. Instant Video is one of the reasons they sell so many subscriptions over so many platforms. Restricting that to their own proprietary box would kill their numbers.
It doesn't have Play Store nor touch
Well, shit then :v:
It doesn't have Play Store nor touch
APK install? If so I might get one for Plex

Like, it's trying so hard, yet it still looks unmistakably like complete shit. It's like the Fred Fredburger of controllers.

Time to throw my Ouya in the bin. I didn't even use it :v:
You know what I've always wanted to do on my TV? Read books.
Nothing will beat Chromecast, sorry everyone else.
You know what I've always wanted to do on my TV? Read books.
Is that a thing? I'm not seeing that on the list behind the guy in the picture at the top of the page.

It's like the Fred Fredburger of controllers.
It's like "hey, I bet that thing could be alright to use if I wasn't positive that it would be smaller than the Dualshock 3 and even less comfortable!" I guess, if anything, the build quality doesn't give the initial impression of being total cheap garbage like the Ouya's controller? Based entirely on one heavily photoshopped image?
Time to throw my Ouya in the bin. I didn't even use it :v:
send it to me I could sell that shit for like 5, 6 dollars tops.
