Does anyone know if I take French, would taking japanese alongside it, or right after make either of them harder, or cause any sort of annoying problems?
Japanese is easier then french. But yes it would be very hard to learn BOTH at the same time. With all the grammatical stuff. Plus hiragana and katakana (japanese characters) to learn, maybe even some kanji. So maybe go one at a time a see how you go.
They're different enough that you probably wouldn't get confused.
Now, taking French and say...Spanish at the same time could be confusing, but because Japanese isn't based off the same language and in many cases it's more character based and what not, it shouldn't be a problem.

cartoons? not quite. plus anime has subtitles. no need for that. I love the japanese culture and would prefer it over french. But I am going to learn both. Japanese is an amazing history and cultural place. That's why. Not everything is based off of television -.-
