Marvel Comics confirms that it will kill off the iconic Wolverine in a 4-part series debuting in September. Will this tie into the ‘X-Men’ movies?

He'll come back, somehow.
Isn't he practically invincible, though?
I feel like no one takes comic characters getting killed off seriously anymore. It's even lost its shock value, I read the headline and was like "huh."
Isn't the entire point that he's 100% immortal?
The only way you can "kill" him is if you separate his head from his body. Even then, he'll come back to life if his head and body are ever joined.
Could open up a new plot
I'm curious to see how they intend to kill him properly. He's effectively immortal.
hopefully they don't magically recon it like spiderman revealing his identity
Now don't quote me on it, but i think in the newer version of X-men he is Immortal as long as he manages to beat "Death" every time he dies.

prolly cause they announce it'll happen before it actually happens
He isn't immortal because he's Wolverine, he's immortal because he's a comic book character.
The way to kill Wolverine is to drown him. Water is constantly in his lungs, never has a chance to regenerate since he can't breathe, that's how his son died

Pretty much. It's probably just whoever's writing right now trying to make a whole attention-grabbing dramatic moment thing. Wolverine will either survive, 'die' and come back, or be brought back with a handy-dandy retcon by the next writer.
I haven't read comics in awhile but can't they use the Muramasa blade? Wolverine used that to kill Sabretooth but he came back so Logan's probably coming back aswell.
I hope he comes back, wolverine is actually cool
Throw him into an industrial meat grinder
I'll read the comics but I don't know if he's going to stay dead.
Does he lose his healing powers? Is there someone who can take away powers and they take away his healing ability?
I'm not sure how he'd die.

Wolverine regenerates from being destroyed down to one cell in a nuclear blast. He can't actually die.
They can't do that, besides Picard he's my favorite character.
prolly cause they announce it'll happen before it actually happens
that and all the times characters have come back and "alternate universes" and just bullshit devices to make death meaningless.
will it be another magical bullet that places him between space and time like with captain america
god comic books are so stupid
Since there has been some comics where superman has been killed off even though he's also invincible. I'd like to see them try on this one.
If freakin' Superman came back from the dead, they will inevitably bring back ol' over rated Wolverine. Not that I think Superman is any better mind you.
......................Things like this make me wish I was still into comics so I wouldn't feel out of place chatting about it.

Probably not a coincidence there's a large body of water on the cover
"Killed off"
I don't see how comic books can even create tension like this anymore when multiverses are this common for superheroes. Like even if you pull a Deus Ex Machina to kill him and not one to revive him, a future writer could just tell a story about a Wolverine from a parallel universe that's exactly the same as the old one but he lived.
Narrative consistency's flown out the window ages ago since comic books don't follow the traditional format of "1 writer, 1 story and whatever characters", but it's all character-centric with whatever writers and stories do the job.
Without an overarching story, there's no end of story, without an overarching world, there are no rules or limits. Writers can pull all the junk they want without having to worry about canon in the slightest. It's a bit like fanfic in that sense.

Since this is fictional they can write any reason for him to be susceptible to death.

But they really can't. He's an established character, with this iteration having a history and various attributes. They can't pick something that they've either explicitly or implicitly stated in the past won't actually kill him, it'd drive the comic book nerds fucking crazy.
Messing with canon like that isn't cool. Though totally rebooting the universe every other year is for some reason.
isn't the point of killing iconic characters shock value? why would you announce ahead of time you're killing off a character.

A Sentinel could fairly easily kill the "original" Wolverine. Hell, Wolverine's backstory was unclear in the beginning because it was supposed to be revealed that he was an actual Wolverine who mutated into a humanoid.
