At least 17 people have been killed and 160 wounded in an Israeli strike that hit a fruit and vegetable market near Gaza City, Palestinian officials say.Hundreds of people were shopping in the market in Shejaiya, a spokesman for the Gaza health ministry said.
The attack came during a four-hour truce called by the Israeli military. Hamas, which controls Gaza, had rejected the truce as meaningless.
Meanwhile, Israel said three more of its soldiers had been killed in Gaza.
Palestinian doctors also said that another Israeli air strike after the partial humanitarian ceasefire was announced had killed seven people in Khan Younis.
Or at least just the first 10 words.
Title says 177, article says 17
17 Deaths + 160 Injuries = 117, although OP should have made 'casualties' a lot more clear in what he was referring to.
At the rate they're blowing all the hospitals up there won't be anybody to stop those wounds turning into a deadly infection anyway.
It's not like that wouldn't be out of the question for their plan at this point.

I've never heard of it and when I Google it it just corrects it to "emergency department" so idk whatever I don't hang around hospitals
I still think the title is misleading and it's not hard to be more specific but who cares

It was obviously a preemptive attack to prevent that fruit from being thrown at innocent Israelis by protestors. Those apples could have killed someone! It's not Israel's fault that Hamas hides their throwing fruit in the same market as the eating fruit. :downs:

Everybody clap yo hands
Fuck yeah! They really bombed that obvious weapon cache! Good job buddy Israel.
I've never heard casualty wasn't strictly death-toll but any time I've seen it used it seemed to be the implication.
I'm kinda shocked that it's apparently such common knowledge that you guys are throwing hissy fits over people not knowing this
thank god israel dealt with those civilians before they bought any more healthy food
thank god israel dealt with those civilians before they bought any more healthy food
you know who else eats food? HAMAS
Jesus fucking christ, this is absolutely barbaric. I'm ashamed that this is even happening.

well it can cause a lot of misunderstanding to be unaware of the exact definition of a word like that; if someone tells you that the total number of US casualties during world war 2 was 1,076,245, and you assume those are all deaths and not also those who were wounded, you've erroneously misunderstood the death toll to be over twice what it actually was, which is 405,399 (plus 30,000 or so missing)
[editline]31st July 2014[/editline]
or, in the case of this article, over 10 times what it actually was, which is a bit more significant a margin of error and misunderstanding from a statistical standpoint
