get hype
holy fuck. And most important, there will be Terraria (1) updates!
Oh shit, now we have both Terraria 2 and Starbound to look forward to.
Excellent. Even in large worlds, biomes are squished in together causing little room to explore.

oh shit dawg terraria was big, I hope this is like, 4x bigger but with way huger maps
I hope this has less awful character sprites.
But I thought they already announced Starbound? Absolutely garbage jokes aside, I look forward to seeing what he's going to bring to the table with so much competition in the whole 2D sandbox market he started.
as far as I know (and I don't know a lot) the terraria artist/art director is now working on starbound. how will this bode with terraria 2? will there be a massive change in artistic direction? or is the guy coming back to texture the game?
especially with corruption on either side of you close to the spawn fuck corruption
Infinite corruption
Infinite corruption
Sounds like a World of Warcraft plotline.

I was under the impression that Starbound was meant to be the "spiritual successor" to Terreria.

But I see nothing wrong with a Terraria 2, it gives me more options as well as something else to look forward to. Starbound only has a few Terraria (ex?)devs working on it, it has really nothing to do with Terraria beyond that.

I was thinking "So wait, they're going to make a sequel and then an unrelated sequel?" [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] I really wish somebody would have told me that months ago.
Oh, I thought it was the same exact studio working on both.
Starbound is being worked on by Chucklefish, Terraria was made by Re-Logic.

That aside, I think the main thing that differentiates this from Starbound is the obvious change of setting. One is in Space, one is in a Fantasy world. You can do a lot of different things that are mutually exclusive in both.
Infinite corruption
Better bring extra horseshoes.
I am hype
I hope this has less awful character sprites.
I hope it has less awful everything in the graphics and sound department. The game makes up for it in content, but lets be honest, it's not awe-inducing due to its technical achievements. Bigger worlds will be great though, even large ones feel cramped, for example you will never get the feeling of adventuring far away into the snowy mountains because the snowy mountain take about 30 seconds to traverse.
I expect the Endgame boss to be Cthulu
